Found this out-of-the way restaurant near the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Lodge in Bernalillo, NM, an otherwise wide-spot-in-the-road place, about 10 miles North of Albuquerque, NM. I was astounded to have one of the best meals ever I have had in my 60 years.
The sommelier, Samuel McFall, was kind enough to bring two Pinot-Grigio-like wines for my companion's tasting before she made her choice; I liked the second wine, she liked the first; he provided the names and vintages so we could find them on our own.
Service was more than exemplary, the food a Nouvelle-Cuisine/Southwest/American blend, everything was delicious in each bite, not cloying, not too much, not too little, but just right. Masterpiece food, worthy of the best cities in theworld. Incredible to find in the middle of nowhere, but near two world-class golf courses.

While visiting ABQ with my daughter, she decided to take me somewhere I'd not been before, and I'd wondered if the drive would be worth it. WOW! Great food, great artwork, great store to buy unique NM items! The prices were great, and we had to waddle back out to the car! You won't have to ask me twice to go again!

This Casino is great. The gaming floor is very clean and the staff is very friendly. They have a new hotel that offers beautiful rooms. If you get hungry you can check out the all you can eat buffet. My personal favorite is the bowling alley. As you can see there is something for everyone.

There are two locations for Jackalope one is in Bernalillo about 7 miles north of Albuquerque and the other is in Santa Fe about 50 miles north of Albuquerque. Both stores are great places for something unique. Jackalope specializes in things from around the world they have everything from rugs, to pottery, to HUGE doors from missions in Spain. They have toys from Peru, clothes from Malaysia, pottery from Mexico; just about anything you could want. They have great prices on their pottery but their furniture is a bit pricey. The one located in Santa Fe is more of a Bazaar with lots of booths outside selling jewelry, scarves, etc.

I now live in Jacksonville, Florida due to family circumstances, but spent many evenings in La Casita while living in Rio Rancho. It is a small place with friendly service, great food and prices. Do not expcect to have a Steak or Hamburger here. This is strictly great Mexican/New Mexican with excellent chile sauces and terrific sopapillas at a very reasonable price. I do not travel to ABQ without stopping here. Do yourself a favor and make a trip to this special place.
Pros: Great food at a great price. Sopapillas are outstanding. Get a side of them with the meal.
Cons: Menu is relatively small, but the food is great

Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but my husband and I were treated like second class citizens by the hostess and the waitress was not familiar with the specials (maybe she was new). The house brew tasted like keystone light and the chips (chips & salsa) were stale. The restaurant itself is quite charming and the patio had a nice view, unfortunately, we were so disapointed we left without trying anything from the menu.
