Kam's has the best Chinese food I've had. The kids and I love the General Tso's Chicken and my husband likes the Almond Boneless Chicken. Tonight he's going to try the Pepper Steak because he wants something spicier. One note: you may want to order a degree of heat higher than you normally would since they seem not to add as much heat as you would expect. I've tried the General Tso's at many other places but nothing has come close to the flavor of Kam's. They are friendly and willing to donate to the community (Berkley High School athletics). They take only cash - no checks or credit cards, and I rarely carry cash, but for their food I'm willing to make a run to the ATM. They're great!!!
Pros: Awesome food
Cons: Must pay with cash

O'mara's has the most wonderful all you can eat buffets. They have the breakfast buffet on Sunday's and also have a special buffet on holiday's. We have been there for Easter and Mother's Day. The price is about $20 a person plus drinks but it is so worth it. They have a ton of choices like a carving station with Roast Beef and Turkey, and 4-5 other entrée to choice from. They also have a ton of choices from appetizer's, salads, potatoes, and of course dessert. Well worth the money.

Before I moved to Florida in June 2007 I spent many wonderful Saturday lunches and dinners at O'Mara's. It was my family's favorite place to go. I can't even count the number of times I have enjoyed this restaurant and it is the only thing about Michigan that I miss. The food is a marvel for such an area as Berkley and the ambiance is very relaxing. They always greeted me when I came in and my family actually became good friends with some of the wait staff. In 10 years I have only had one bad meal and it was very minor and easily remedied. It is a local treasure.

I recently returned to Berkley after living in Arizona for several years, and found my old favorite restaurant, is still my favorite. The atmosphere is so peaceful; it's like being in a temple. The food is fresh, prepared as luscious as always, and the portions are still so generous that I have to take home a doggie bag! One of my favorites is the Chicken Madras, although everything of the menu is a comfort food. I would gladly pay much more for it.
After serving our communities for so long, I hope with the help of their loyal and understanding customers, they will survive our present devastating economic conditions and continue to offer us the same excellent service they have for so many years. I admire their creativity in how they have cut some corners in order to keep costs down. Hopefully one day they may be able to afford to renew their liquor license, and spruce up the outside. They may have had to cut some corners, but it is to their credit that they haven't cut on the quality or quantity of the food, or their warm and friendly service. That's good enough for me!!!
Pros: Ambience, Quality and Quantity of food, Service, Low Prices, Parking
Cons: None at all

I believe it is family owned and run. The place is hopping every night, so get there early! The food is wonderful, authentic, and fresh! To make up for the lack of a liquor license they serve wonderful fresh fruit smoothies. My favorite is the milk and honey drink. I have been to all the restaurants in Mexican Town and believe me they have nothing over this little gem, tucked away in the suburbs! Try it once and you will be back!
Pros: Personable Service, Authentic Mexican, Fresh
Cons: Crowded, No liquor

The Berkley Front has more beers on tap than I have ever seen. It's a great little bar, with some booths and some stools at the bar. There's a pool table in the front, and a great juke box. Upstairs occasionally features live music, but I prefer to stay at the bar, sampling different beers from around the world. The staff could be a tad friendlier, but, it's not too bad.

Berkely Front has one of the biggest beer selections around--over 40 beers on tap ranging from PBR to American and international micro brews. The bartenders are very helpful in interpreting the intimidating selection. They ask questions about your tastes, make suggestions and give samples. If you're a beer fan, conniseur, or wannabe beer snob, this is the place for you. Just don't order a Bud Light.
