Here's what's to like about Youngstock's:
+ Farm-fresh fruits and vegetables
+ Excellent everyday prices when compared to the grocery store
+ Long hours daily
+ Outdoor store makes for a unique shopping environment
+ Bonus: all varieties of milk $2 a gallon!
Youngstock's opens at the beginning of April and closes at the end of November. It stocks lots of locally-grown produce and plenty that's shipped in, too. You can buy by the case or individually by the pound.
Since our family has discovered Youngstock's we've found it easier to eat well. Produce at the supermarket seems exorbitantly priced by comparison.

Village Books is better than large chain stores because you'll find that it carries books that you may not find at other places. They have a lot of local books and authors and hard to find books. But this place does have a "used books" feel to it. While I don't think they have used books, you won't find a couch to sit on and read a book. You should know what you want and get it. I like that they spotlight local authors and you will find that they host book signings often.

Village books is a must stop if passing through Bellingham. It resides in the fairhaven area of the town. It is not huge, but it has many unique treasure that are fun to browse through, and more often than not end up purchasing.
Because it is an old house, it is easy to get lost wandering around. It is quite fun though, because you never know what lies around the next corner. There is a great cafe inside upstairs if you want to take a quick break.
Nice place to spend a day with friends for independant and group reading.
