This new restaurant has a really unique menu -- a mix of asian and western cuisines and a lot of unusual combinations that work really well. The atmosphere is nice but not over the top; it's a comfortable place.
The owner just opened up in Bellingham after spending 30 years living in Japan; he's enthusiastic about the restaurant and about you having a great experience.
The desserts are excellent; all the food is tasty. I've been there for lunch and dinner and enjoyed it every time.

Tojo is the japanese version of the soup nazi. if you choose to sit at the bar, your best (and perhaps only) bet is to let Tojo plan your menu. he will ask if you have any allergies or don't like anything in particular and then begin his culinary journey. he will tell you which items you may dip in soy sauce and which items should be eaten as served. he is a character and the photo of him laughing on the website (tojos.com) is perfect. his dishes are amazing and a typical dinner includes a combination of sushi and japanese dishes. i remember black cod served in a crab shell that positively melted in my mouth. if you are taking a weekend in vancouver, splurge on tojo's cuisine. this restaurant is just south (accross the bridge) from vancouver but it doesn't seem like i can enter a vancouver, canada address

This tiny shop located across from Bellingham High, with another location in the ferry terminal has some of the best low cost sandwiches I have ever had anywhere in the world. All of their meats are made fresh...even the turkey. they also have fresh desserts. I have heard the hot sandwiches are scrumptious including the homemade meatloaf. I prefer the TBA Turkey Bacon Avocado... I haven't been able to order anything else yet. They also do a great job catering with homemade comfort meals.

It's the best feeling when you finally find THE coffee place. You know, the one that you can always rely on to make your drink just right. After much trial and error, I followed up on a recommendation of classmate and checked this place out. Said classmate also works there, and revealed that the baristas at Avellino take quality very seriously. If there's a possibility that a shot didn't turn out quite right on their classic Italian hand-press espresso machine, they throw it out and do it again- nevermind the line. It's a very low-key, low stress sort of place that seems pretty unique. It also features an on-site bakery with the most amazing pumpkin cookies. Highly recommended.

Every town has a place like this. Somewhere that's almost unbearably cool, occupies a niche market, and is unbeatably fantastic. Perhaps it's not something you think you need, but if it's available, why not visit?
Juice It is awesome. The brick walls, the high countertop, the wheatgrass sitting on a shelf above an industrial grade juicer- the ambience is perfect. Just going in feels like you're doing something right. Ordering something, you know you've done good. Even on my worst days I know I'll feel better after stopping by- fresh raw fruits vegetables are so much easier to get down when they're in liquid form. I'd especially recommend that anyone with a cold this winter stop by for a cup of hot apple cider. Served with lemon and cinnamon, it soothes the throat and gives you a healthy dose of vitamin C.

OK, so maybe it's the nostalgia for the great years I spent in Bellingham but this has got to be one of the best places for breakfast ever. The food is consistantly good (and LOCAL!), the atmosphere is friendly with a real sense of community and everything is just really perfect. There's even booths which is a requirement for a sleepy breakfast. While everything I've had there is great don't miss the homefries or corn bread. Also make sure to check out the pictures of staff.

It takes alot for me to give a restaurant 5 stars--I think that everything truly needs to be perfection, but that is indeed what I found to be true at this fine local establishment. The owner was gracious and present in the dining room(!), the food was wonderful, the ambiance appetizing. We went for the Sunday Brunch, and I would recommend to one and all! GREAT, yet simple Italian food--the 'comfort' type, my favorite, and even live music! Bravo! Bellisimo! Bella! Ciao! (I can't think of any more Italian words!)

If you're looking for a good burger joint, then this one is the place to be. I mostly recommend the Bacon Burger but almost everything on the menu is delicious. I must admit that the prices are not exactly cheap, however, I do feel that they're still reasonable. The bottomless strawberry lemonade's are a wonderful thing and often lead to me and the rest of my friends having a contest to see who can down the most. Also who can forget those wonderful steak fries(I think they're the best fries you can get). Throw in the fact that they're BOTTOMLESS! and you got yourself a sweet deal. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I love Red Robin!
