Great customer service and diving community... 1/27/2009

I got certified at Silent World over 5 years ago and having nothing but great things to say about their training, staff and expertise. They emphasize training and safety and always seem to recommend the appropriate next steps in diving education at the right time. Their knowledge of equipment and local dive sites is extensive. In addition, Craig and his team do a great job of setting up a diving community and finding opportunities for you to dive; whether it's a group boat trip, a day at the beach or introductions to other divers with your same interests; they continually look for ways to keep you diving. Silent World's dive travel experience is by far better than anything I could have imagined. I've been to Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico on SW trips and they are run professionally, to the best sites, with the best operators and groups of people. Fun!! more

response to "Interested in selling you equipment..." 10/27/2008

Sorry Stacy S. had a bad experience with us. Most of our customers are long term ones, who refer friends and co-workers. Silent World offers small group, personalized training, and yes, it costs more to do this, as our costs are much higher. However, we create more comfortable and active once certified. We do have some used equipment, which Stacie S. was looking for, but this is not our area of expertise. Hopefully she found a dive program more closely in line with her needs and pocketbook. more

More interested in selling you equipment than getting you into the spirit of the sport 8/17/2005

Silent World was recommended to us by another couple who had recently taken up scuba--I'm certified, but my husband isn't, and we were considering getting certified together for a trip to Hawaii. A little experience goes a long way... Silent World's staff really seemed more about selling us everything possible than getting us interested in the sport. Everything they had was brand new and very expensive. They also tried to sell you on a series of classes that would blow out your wallet. When the sales person found we weren't biting, he became very aloof and somewhat hostile, especially when I began asking questions about some of their equipment and policies. Give Discount Divers in Seattle a try if you want to try out an expensive sport without breaking your personal bank. more
