When I went into labor prematurely, the staff in Overlake's Childbirth unit was instrumental in keeping me calm and making certain everything that could be done for us and our baby was done. Many mothers to be would be pleased to know they retain an anesthesiologist especially for the labor and delivery rooms.
As is typical, I went through a number of nurses between the time I was admitted and the time I delivered, and almost all were terrific. Very personable and calming, while at the same time ruthlessly efficient and knowledgeable. I never once had any concerns that anything less than the best care was taking place for our child.
After a textbook, if early, birth, we were whisked away to the mother and baby unit, complete with a private bathroom, television, vcr, rocking chair and a recliner that turns into a bed so all three of us could stay overnight. The nurses there were also terrific, checking up on patients at regular intervals and making sure mom's, dad's and babies were all comfortable. They have lactation consultants right there to assist any nursing mom's who need a little extra help, and plenty of resources and materials to answer any question parents may have about the health of their child.
The overall experience was terrific, when it's time for our next child, I will absolutely be going back to Overlake!
For those wondering about the one nurse who wasn't terrific, she was knowledgeable enough to provide exceptional care, just rather impersonal and didn't click with me very well...definitely not something major!

I have visited Eastside Oasis Day Spa several times. The prices are GREAT as well as the service. They have several packages that include a massage, facial and body scrub for around $130 ( I would also recommend a scalp massage which is only $10 extra. The setting is very comfortableand relaxing!! If she enjoys it the price is reasonable enough to treat herself occasionally!!

I was using a Doctor of Naturopath for a while and she would write me prescriptions that could only be filled at Clark's. They had good prices and explained everything I needed to know about the tinctures I was taking. They even have tons of flavors to add to liquid medications for your pleasure! I could always call and ask any question no matter what it was and they were always available. They also have a wide variety of vitamins you might not find elsewhere.

Just setting the record straight. I believe you mean the Crossroads Bartell store at 156th and NE 8th which is open 24 hours. This store is in downtown Bellevue and is only open until 9pm during the week.

I have shopped at this particular Bartell's for years! This location has been a Bellevue staple and will soon close it's doors to make room for yet another high rise in the downtown area. The selection of products at Bartell's is excellent. Prices on food items are often excellent when featured in their ad, while prices on other items tend to be just a bit higher than bigger box stores. One reason I continue to shop at Bartell's is due to the fact Bartell's is locally owned, which is a huge plus.

Their emergency facilities are exceptional: they literally have brought two kittens back from the brink of death for us over 5 years.

Michelle Wu has been practicing acupuncture since she was 15 years old. She began her study at the age of 9. She is the most experienced acupuncturist i have found on the eastside. I have "worked" with her over the past 4-5 years. I recommend her very highly.
Her office is located near the Crossroads mall, close to downtown Redmond, near the Microsoft campus in Bellevue.
You can ask her upfront about your "problems" and she will tell you right away whether she thinks she can help or not or what the chances are that acupuncture might do something for it. I would assume that she does need to see you and get your pulses and all the first time but then you could just call her and ask before deciding whether to go or not.
Unlike some other practioners, she never tried to get me on a "schedule". But she does honestly say whether a specific condition can be dealt with quickly or not.
She accepts most insurance providers including Premera Blue Cross.

I just have to send out a RAVE to the folks at Harborview for their implementation of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner role within their emergency services. Most people don't know that there is only 1 hospital in the area that provides this much needed service for rape/sexual assault victims.
The beauty of having an onsite SANE nurse available is that the exam, which becomes a collection of evidence, is done properly so that if a victim chooses to file charges against an attacker there is a clear chain of evidence. It's unbelievable how frequently a drop in the chain of evidence has damaged a victim's opportunity to seek justice. The SANE program has been in place only since the late 1980's and there are roughly 200 in the nation (that's it). Harborview not only has staffing available for SANE's (usually the SANE programs must find outside funding) in their emergency department but they also provide training for SANE trainees throughout the State of Washington.
As a board member for FEAR Project http://www.FearProject.org that works within the training program I salute the strength of these individuals and the job that they do. I hope to see more of these programs building in the USA, and around the world for that matter.
