I grew up eating jewish deli food from Canter's Deli on Fairfax in LA and Nate N' Als in Beverly Hills and lived in Washington DC and frequented Katz's deli and the Carnegie Deli both in NYC. The best jewish style deli that I have been to was Kauman's in Skokie, Illinois outside of Chicago. I have tried Goldberg's corned beef sandwich, the barley soup, and the chocolate Babka cake for dessert and all were terrific. Their rugelach and kishka I probably would not have again. The delis in NYC and in LA will have much thicker sandwiches with coleslaw, swiss, and russian dressing, but the price is much, much higher than Goldberg's Deli and the quality is similar. I feel content finding this place. Pros: Great Corned Beef Sandwich, Barley Soup, and Dessert Cons: Schlep from Seattle to Factoria

Don't go to this restaurant. Food is lousy and service is terrible. After a bad meal, I ordered a slice of cake. It was the smallest piece for $5.50, I have ever seen. Not even 1/4 the size of what you get at most restaurants for the same price! All the other restaurants in Factoria are full, but you can always find room here. Ever wonder why???

While craving a wonderful HOT pastrami sandwich like you can get so many WONDERFUL LA delis, I stumbled across this deli. The pastrami was cold, had been sitting for a long time and piled on stale bread. The server was crass and very sarcastic along with insulting. When I asked why the pastrami wasn't HOT, he explained to me that it was either that or nothing in a very rude tone. Suffice it to say, this "deli" shouldn't even be called a deli - it should be less than a fast food diner. I visited a couple of months later to make sure I was being fair in my review and BELIEVE ME, I feel robbed of my hard earned $ on both accounts! Save yourself the sad experience and search elsewhere for even a mediocure pastrami sandwich. Carl's Jr. does a better job! Pros: Nice Decor Cons: Food it horrible, Service is horrible, and VERY expensive for the portion size and quality of food

Goldbergs is sort-of a cross between a typical New York or L.A. deli and a restaurant. The food - corned beef, pickles, etc. - are made by them or to their order, and the sandwiches are overstuffed, etc. But there's also a nice seating area, more at home in a steakhouse than in a typical deli. And a wider variety of foods, including some interesting dishes with a seeming Mediterranean influence. The food isn't really up to the better delies in NYC or in the south Beverly Hills area, but it's fantastic for the Puget Sound. Goldberg's is in the Factoria mall, facing the main drag. My husband and I tried Goldberg's a month ago, and we were quickly hooked. The ingredients are fresh and quite authentic for an East Coast style-deli, and the hubby loved his corned beef sandwich. I was very impressed with the Philly cheesesteak I had where the meat, peppers and onions were chopped and cooked correctly with a cheese combo that made it taste like Cheez Whiz. Very close to the Philly original. We will definitely go back and try more of the menu (it's big). I'm still getting over the shock of a decent place to eat in Factoria!

I came back from New York not too long ago and tried the famous pastrami and corned beef sandwiches from Carnegie Deli. So I was craving for a pastrami sandwich one day.... Goldbergs' Famous Delicatessen in Factoria Mall. It doesn't rate well against Carnegie but for a deli around this area, it's not bad. Great selection of sandwiches and beverages. I got a pastrami sandwich with Vernor's Ginger Ale. I would definitely go back and try something else.
