I was hunting for knobs and pulls to match an aluminum framed cabinet. There is little selection for this finish in their store. He opted to look through a few of his many catalogs, but did not find much available. I returned home, researched and found several options. I left a message on his phone requesting pricing and availability. He would not return my calls. I went to the store and left a note for him asking for help. Again, he did not call back. He clearly did not wish to assist me as it was not worth his time or effort. He was attentive as long as he thought he had an easy sale. If you shop at Chown Hardware, know what you need or find what you want quickly. They want quick sales with little effort.

I can't believe I've never been at Chown before. I only went in to look at cabinet hardware and ended up finding everything I needed for my home. Sinks, faucets, toilets, towel bars, door knobs, and more. I provide great customer service in my industry and expect it when I shop. These guys are even better than I am at making sure THIS customer was completely satisfied. I was mostly impressed at how they were actually excited for my project. They even sent a guy out to my house to make sure I only bought what I actually needed. AND THEN, when the order came in from their Portland warehouse (only two days later), each piece was labeled, so that I didn't need to guess where it was supposed to go. I expected their prices to be outragous, if for no other reason than their selection and service were so great - wrong! I found Chown to be very competitively priced. Great selection, awesome customer service, fair pricing, and personal attention that I never get from the big box stores. I only wish the rest of my remodel would have gone as smoothly as the hardware and plumbing. Thank you Chown Hardware.

I need to state up front I have not purchased anything from Chown Hardware or dealt with them other than walking into their store to ask a question. Others who dealt with them on projects may have a more positive experience. However, I walked in to inquire if they had a particular item and the front desk reception person was very rude and quickly dismissed me. She did not recommend stores in which I could find what I was looking for, nor did she give me the time of day. All other hardware stores I had trekked too that day offered recommendations when I was unable to track down my hard-to-find item at their location.
Poor customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I doubt I would go back to Chown Hardware.

Chown had difficulties getting a sink from a manufacturer, and rather than contact us, we had to call them on a regular basis. The sink was delayed from October to March 31, in 3-week incremental slips. Also, I bought a disposal from them and it was about $40 more than in Home Depot. I would have bought it at HD had I realized it would be exactly the same thing.
