Terrible Detailing 4/2/2016

Went for a detail clean on my Honda Pilot. Had a Living Social voucher for an exterior clean (cost $90 for $140 service) and I added a $250 interior detail. Do the math: that's a $400 service package. The exterior was ridiculously bad, on par with a $20 machine wash and wipe down. How can you call it a Signature DETAIL Wash if there is no attention to detail??? A wash, quick wax and a swipe over the tires with some ArmorAll is NOT worth $140 or even $90. The windshield had dirt still caked on the lower casing and bits of twig and straw still wedged into the bracket that came out easily with a finger nail. The rest of the windows showed similar slipshod attention. On the interior, there was the same piss poor work, with many harder to reach areas completely neglected. The only part that impressed me was the deodorizer work on the leather. And this was the "redo" result. I complained about the first inspection and they kept in for a few more hours to try and get it right. After two trips to Bellevue, I was done with these idiots. more

bad news bears 8/15/2011

Kinda wanted to burn the place down by the time they were done. Id go into detail, but i dont want to waste any more of my time at the expense of this place. more

Horrendously overpriced labor, poor customer service 7/20/2010

The shop rates are north of $80/hour. While reasonable for a car dealership, this is just ridiculous for car audio. I've gotten quotes of $250 to pull an aftermarket deck out of my car and put the factory deck back in - no wires were cut and is simply unplugging one and plugging in the other. On a separate occassion I had a quote of $380 to install a basic car alarm with no special features (no remote start, nothing). The price gouging is ridiculous, and I think it's pathetic that their own employees come on here and give them 5-star ratings to skew the customer rating system. Lastly if you think you'll catch a break in installation charges if you buy equipment from them, think again. A year and a half ago I purchased a JL Audio subwoofer from them, with box, and they actually charged me $45 to put the sub in the box. There was another charge of $65 to put it in my car, which already was wired for a sub (was replacing an older single sub). It does not take 30 minutes to screw a single subwoofer into a box. It does not take 45 minutes to unhook two wires from one terminal and hook them into another. If you're paying a premium for the products in the store, there should be some level of discount to the labor, I would think - especially if your labor is overpriced to begin with. Unfortunately my girlfriend was the one taking care of this for me, and she did not know any better so she could not challenge this - she thought it was standard fare. Good to know they take advantage of women there. Best buy may not be the highest quality, but all the same jobs I've had Car Toys do in the past, they do for over 50% less money - and they guarantee their work as well. Best Buy even has a special that they'll un-install your deck and put your factory deck back in FOR FREE if you're selling your car. Car Toys doesn't even have the customer service to make the price premium worth it. The staff comes across as arrogant, If you don't know about car audio, they'll take you by over-estimating labor charges. more

Customer Service is their number #1 goal 5/10/2010

Good: I'll start this off by saying I am biased. I am a manager at the Bellevue Car Toys location, and have been here since january 1 2008. I am sorry for anyone who has ever genuinely had a bad experience with any Car Toys. But I can say with 100% confidence, and backed up by many customer reviews, that anyone who has been to my store in the last 2 years has received nothing but the absolute best service humanly possible. Myself and the other manager literally work endless hours going above and beyond.. Bad: We have sacrificed our personal lives to makes sure that we are doing the absolute best. I wish we could publish the comment cards that our store receives on a monthly basis, usually 40+. We have dedicated our selves to providing an experience that many customers have said "does not exist anywhere else today". We are not happy until we deliver what we promised you. Any employee--installer or sales--who does not meet our personal standard of professional attitude does not stay employed here.. Improvements: While we try to take care of everyone, we still have certain limitations. 90% of our commuication is verbal, we have no electronic system. We try to communicate effectively with each other about customer concerns, but still a small % of issues sometimes get overlooked. If it was from an employee not following through--we deal with that individual immediately, it is unacceptable. But we are still human, and many people realize that honest mistakes do happen on a rare occasion.. Other: I am very proud of my store, and my staff. We all love working in this industry and for this company. I bought my first stereo from this store over a decade ago when I got my first car, and I work everyday to give that same treatment to everyone that walks through our doors. We have a simple philosophy to treat our customers like we would want to be treated ourselves. If you have had a bad experience with Car Toys in prior years, I encourage you to come to Bellevue (ne 20th). You will not regret it.. more

People need to be fair 3/19/2009

I was reading the last guys reviews just trashing on this place and I gotta tell ya the dudes in their were super honest with me about my car. I came in to get new speakers because mine sounded like garbage. Thirty minutes later one of the guys came up to me and told me good news that there was nothing wrong with you speakers at all, that they were just installed improperly and something was grounding out. They fixed that for me and I only paid thirty bucks for the installers time in diagnosing it. I saved four hundred dollars and I was so enthused I added an amp and sub instead and my car rocks. more

I went in for an estimate on a very small job, and they wanted to charge me $70 for something that installers at Best Buy did for only $20. If you're wealthy enough to afford the cars displayed around there and money is no object to you, then go to Car Toys. Otherwise shop around and you'll save $... more

Dishonest: Service Bait and Switch 8/31/2006

I have a 3rd party car alarm that was installed when we purchased the car in 98 in California. I needed service for it but my regular service center wouldn't handle it and instead referred me to Car Toys. I called them to set up an appointment and told them who the maker was and that I needed service: was this something they could help with. They said sure, bring it on by. We worked out a date and time and I told them I'd have to drop it off (since, you know, I work during the day) at 8:30. Again, they said sure, bring it on by. I get there at 8:30 (with my wife in our other vehicle since they don't do anything so helpful as a shuttle service). Closed. The sign says they open at 9. Nice job guys: way to waste 30 minutes in a busy week. When they do open, I go to check in. The guy checking me in gets a puzzled look when I go over again what I told the guy on the phone. He proceeds to tell me that for 1/2 of labor they can look and see if it's something simple, but because they didn't install the system they most likely would only be able to pull the old one and install a new one. Nice bait and switch guys. They had no intention of actually providing service to my old system (beyond maybe changing a battery if it were that simple, which it's not). They told me to come by with it knowing they couldn't service it so they could try to sell me a new one. So, certainly don't go to this Car Toys and I'd steer clear of them entirely given how ethically challenged they are. more
