Akbar is a great Indian restaurant in the heart of Mt. Vernon. I especially like their dinner and lunch buffets-- for less than $10, you can sample a wide variety of Indian cuisine. My favorites are the nan (a tasty flatbread), Palak Paneer (spinach and cheese), and Tandoori chicken. Although it's a little cramped and dark, it's well worth it for some delicious Indian food.

Akbar is a cute little Indian restaruant located in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore. My favorite time of day to visit is definitely lunch--they have a very good all-you-can-eat buffet served daily at lunchtime for about 8$. It's a great way to sample many of their foods at one time on a very reasonable budget. Their dinner prices are very reasonable, and atmosphere and service are both decent. I'd say definitely worth a visit.

Akbar restaurant, located in the Mount Vernon district of Baltimore, is an excellent destination for anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine. The restaurant is in a strange place - partially underground, which was somewhat strange at first. After being there for a few minutes, the effect is that you feel comfortable in the small yet spacious restaurant.
Food is moderately priced, but the portions are very small. That is really the only complaint I have - everything else is excellent.

Akbar has great food in a nice, quiet atmosphere, as is the case with most Indian restaurants in the area, I've found. The selection on their buffet rotates from day to day, and they have a good variety of vegetarian options among all their carnivorous Indian food as well. The buffet always includes Nan bread, and they even have desserts. The restaurant itself is in a kind of basement with a window, recessed from the sidewalk in order to let light in without letting the prying eyes of passers-by in as well. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
