Rocky Run was a favorite college hangout for my wife and her friends. We ate there a few times, and I remember their burgers and nachos being really good. They are known for two main things, their tiny "shooter" desserts in shot glasses and the crayons provided for diners to decorate the paper table coverings. They've got a decent microbrew selection available, but prices are a little on the high side. Overall, great food and good beer.

Rocky Run has always been a favorite of mine--a great alternative to the inexpensive major chain restaurants that abound these days. They have a very big menu filled with burgers, salads, appetizers, and entrees--and all in all, fantastic prices. Some of the entrees can get over 12$, but they tend to be fantastic, and are definitely worth the money. Service has always been great, and they have a great selection of microbrewed beers on tap--also very reasonably priced.

Rocky Run is a great family-friendly tavern on St. Paul Street, right in the heart of Charles Village. The have a full-service bar, two separate dining rooms, and outdoor seating, which allows for a large seating capacity. On weekends, however, be prepared to wait a bit for your burgers and beer. This place is popular with both the college crowd and the locals.
Food ranges from okay-good; standard pub fare but nothing special. The tables are covered with butcher paper, and the encourages everyone to get in touch with their "inner-doodler" while they wait for their food. Go ahead and try not to grab a crayon-- I dare you!

Rocky Run may be a chain, but somehow it has retained its neighborhood-bar/restaurant charm. Located in the heart of Charles Village, it is easy to locate and access. The only parking is on the street, so be prepared to walk a few blocks. The food is on par with your TGIFridays joints, seems fresher, maybe even healthier. Wednesday night is Kids' Night - definitely take your kids there. There's an employee who deftly does magic tricks, makes your choice of balloon animals, and welcomes you. They also give the kids crayons to draw on their brown-paper tablecloths.

The prices at Rocky Run are not amazing. At $7 for a burger and $10-18 for entrées, it's definitely not practical for daily consumption. The atmosphere is fun, with tons of pictures hanging from the walls and various hot sauce bottles lining every wall. The food is often hit-or-miss, sometimes you'll get something amazing, other times you'll regret having gone, but on the whole, Rocky Run is a thoroughly OK place to eat, and every Hopkins student and Charles Village resident should try it at least once.
