Contrary to other comments - there are bad seats. The bars have a crummy selection of drinks and are slow. It is an OK place but totally overrated by most here.

I've been to the Lyric Opera House on several occasions and had a blast each time. The hall itself is quite new (built in 1984), and it's hard to find a bad seat. Granted, if you land seating on the side of the house, it might give you a new perspective, but my seat there for Porgy and Bess was still a fantastic experience. All in all, a fantastic venue!

As the saying goes... Opera, it's better than you think, it has to be is true! You already know so much of the music, it's in ur everyday lives. The Lyric Opera House is a wonderful place to watch it. The seats are fairly comfortable and the house is not that big, so most every seat is a good one. I really enjoying dressing up and going to the show.

The Lyric Opera House is an amazing place to see your first opera or play. Come on opera can't be as bad as you think, can it?? NO. The acoustics in this house are great and the stage area has been transformed into many different places and scenes...I've seen so many great operas here over the years and never been disappointed.

A very classy theater to see shows at. This place gets all the most popular plays and musicals in the Baltimore metropolitan area. I’d suggest shirt and tie for all events here because it’s a more upscale theater to go to. In addition, they have bars scattered throughout the building. Ticket prices can sometimes be expensive.

The Meyerhoff is known for being home to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
The Lyric Opera House is a little bit of everything.
Occasionally host to musicals (I saw "Jesus Christ Superstar" there) as well as operas, concerts, speakers and a variety of other things the Lyric Opera House is a great venue to see pretty much anything.
The acoustics are nice, it is beautiful on the inside and it's a great place to catch any kind of show you can see there.

I can remember going down to the Lyric as a teenager for concerts(anyone remember Extreme? loved them!) and Grease was performed there. If your a music buff, try out one of the many types of shows they host, most of the big things go down at the Hippodrome but some quality performances still happen at the Lyric. Can be a bit tricky to find if your not used to the city streets,so I do advise a Mapquest map
