Niwana isn't your standard Japanese or Korean food restaurant. It's hidden on 33rd Street in Charles Village, so it rarely sees a packed house; during the academic year, however, it gets plenty of repeat customers from nearby Hopkins students.
In addition to a sushi bar and full-service bar, they've got some wonderful lunch and dinner specials. Try one of their "bento boxes"- you'll get an entrée, tempura, a California roll, salad, soup, and fresh fruit. At less than $10, that's a steal for a very filling lunch! I also suggest the bul goki- SO good!

Niwana is a wonderful little restaurant located in Charles village on 33rd street. They serve a variety of Japanese & Korean food, and even have a full service sushi bar. I particularly enjoy their lunch specials, especially the tempura--the lunch special includes not only the entree but also soup, salad, and half of a California roll! Their service is sometimes a bit slow, but in general their food is worth the wait.

Niwana serves Japanese and Korean food. Do not go for the Chicken Teriyaki. It is not even authentic. The Bi Bim Bab is very good, I had it myself, and I would definitely order it again. The ambience is very nice, I like the look and feel and the restaurant itself is very clean.
