Food was really good and decor was great, but for the very same reason as below review, the waiter being a rump, we would never go back!!!
Howard, our server, was indeed the pretentious, obnoxious rump that the previous review was complaining about. He was sarcastic, obnoxious, and an idiot that obviously had his head flushed down the toilet too many times in high school. When asked which salad he prefers, he made comments like, If you don't like endives, you will not like our endive salad. Thank you, genius. When asked if a cheese is pasteurized, he made some sarcastic comment about how unpasteurized cheese is illegal (it's restricted, not illegal). Then when desert was served, he made some snicker comment about how the ice-cream was unpasteurized, and if that was a deal breaker for me? He deliberately served us slow. Took an hour to clear our plates. We were there from 6-9:30 for a three course meal. Forgot our coffee. Normally all that wouldn't have really bothered us if our server was pleasant, as we are pretty easy going and $h!T happens. But his pompous obnoxious attitude sucked.
Pros: food
Cons: Howard, the smug and insulting waiter

I really wanted to try the food at Louisiana, but unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to try it. There was one server (Howard, try to avoid him) working that night, and he was pretentious and made us feel awkward from the moment we walked in the door. We ordered a bottle of wine, and he asked for our IDs. I'm 24 and my boyfriend is 28, but I didn't bring anything with me, so I didn't have my ID. He told us he wouldn't serve us because, in his words, I look like I'm 12. I was so offended, we left immediately and went to The Wine Market in Locust Point instead, which was great! I will probably never go to Louisiana again, and if I do, I would specifically ask for any server besides Howard. Although, judging from some other reviews I've read, I wouldn't count on the service being great anyway.
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: service

With four star prices, you would expect four star service. Unfortunately, at Louisiana this is not their priority. This is by far the worst service I have received in Baltimore. Yes, it was Valentine's Day, I gave them leniency. But, when you order a $100 bottle of wine and it take the server at least 20 minutes to bring it to your table there is a problem. Our server was rude, and dishonest. We had a $25 gift certificate, for which he ignored and charged us the full amount and played stupid when confronted.
Shrimp and grits, delicious, very authentic. Unfortunately, these are not compelling enough for me to come back to endure that kind of service. Skip Louisana and head to Charleston, it is worth the extra money to be treated like a guest instead of a second class citizen.
Pros: Shrimp and Grits
Cons: Service, Price, Parking

The Lobster Bisque is the best I have ever eaten!

My husband and I dined at Louisiana this past weekend, it was our first and only visit.
When we arrived we were greeted by a smug host. From there we were promptly seated. We started w/ a bottle of wine, it was delicious. The wine list is slightly more extensive than average for what you typically find in Baltimore. However, the wines by the glass did not provide you w/ any information other than the type of wine they were offering (ie ? Cab Sav, Pinot Noir) We ordered a salad and appetizer to share and it was very disappointing that both dishes came out at the same time, when clearly the salad should have been presented first. We started w/ the beet salad, it was good but nothing to rave about. We moved on to the shrimp and grits ? it was delicious. This was the highlight of the evening. We then each had our meals, but it was a 20+ minute wait from appetizer to dinner. I had the duck, it was very tough. And my husband had the catfish, it was incredibly fishy. We do not eat red meat or pork so there were very limited options for us to choose from. The atmosphere is unique, but it almost feels like it should be a wedding reception venue as opposed to romantic dining. I also noticed cobwebs in the corners of the ceilings and hallways (not decorations, but real spider webs.) All in all, this is a restaurant we will cross off our list.
