The George Washington Monument in Baltimore was one of the first monuments to honor George Washington. You will be able to climb 228 steps inside the column to see on of the best views of Baltimore. Climbing those steps was a workout but after getting to the top, it was worth it. There is also a small museum there.

Actually, the name of this museum is the Walters, not Walter. This is perhaps one of the best art museums I've ever been to, and it's practically hidden in Baltimore's Mt. Vernon area. Admission prices are rather steep, but they often have free or $1 Saturday morning admission if you can wake up early enough. I especially enjoy their collection of medieval artwork and suits of armor. Lots of fun-- easily an entire day's worth of education and entertainment!

The USS Constellation Museum is so cool because it is on the actual USS Constellation. The ship is the last all-sail ship built by the US Navy. At the museum you learn what life was like on the warship during Civil War times. Another cool thing about this museum is that unlike a lot of other museums, there are many hands-on exhibits. It's a lot of fun for everyone.

More
What I like most about the Urban Adventure company is that they make explicit something many of us have already caught onto: that many people who claim to love the outdoors are really making a fashion statement. Many people who drive SUVs will never go off-roading. I do not necessarily see this as a problem; if people want to communicate to others some sort of membership in an imagined community of shared values, why not let them shop in peace? This is not to say, of course, that people who really are into the outdoors cannot find what they are looking for at the Urban Adventure Company, but they may be able to find it for alot cheaper online or via some sort of hunting/fishing company (though one notes, the politics tend to be different).

Sherwood Gardens, more commonly referred to as the Tulip Garden is one of the best destinations in Baltimore during the late spring. Thousands of tulips are on display in this residential park, with flowering trees and plenty of other flowers making for a breathtaking visit. Although you're not supposed to eat here, I've seen plenty of people with picnic baskets. When the tulips are in full bloom, look for handouts that list and label each of the displays. This is all free to the public, but parking might be a problem since it's right in the middle of a residential area.

More
Johns Hopkins is number 1 in the nation for college lacrosse so it's no surprise the the US Lacrosse Museum is located right next to it. You'll get to learn the history of lacrosse and see all the Hall of Famers. REALLY, if you are a fan of lacrosse, this is a must-see. You will know everyone, or most of the people on the wall. The gift shop has some pretty nice stuff, and if your kids play lacrosse, i'm sure they'd love something from there. They also have a section for modern day lacrosse, men's and women's. Though not a terribly impressive museum (i.e. the musum is not very big or very elaborate in decoration) it's highly-recommended for fans and those who play lacrosse themselves.

The Flag House is the home of Mary Pickersgrill, who in 1793 sewed the 30 foot flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the poem that became the national anthem. Come and see a beautiful replica of the original flag. You can also see a video presentation and artifacts from the war of 1812. Call for more information.

Taylor's Stoneleigh is a great locally owned duckpin bowling center. The lanes and equipment are all on good condition. The rental shoes are fairly new and sanitized between uses. Taylor's is the new hip place to throw a children's birthday party. They have it down to a science, no work to do on your part. The prices are reasonable.
