Located a few minutes from the Inner Harbor, this zoo has a lot to offer the young and old. The one obstacle I find is that the zoo is very hilly and it can be hard to walk up and down it all day. They restarted the tram which helps getting around the zoo much easier. The new poar bear exhibit is exciting and amazing to visit. I really like the penguin exhibit, especially when it's feeding time. The trainers are very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend visiting this zoo!

The Baltimore Zoo is only a few miles from inner harbor, making it an easy stop for tourists looking for a fun way to spend an extra day. It’s also a popular spot for the locals. There is a variety of animals, including an African area and a prairie dog pen, which is a lot of fun to watch the heads keep popping up. The zoo has a lot of special events, like the Halloween trick-or-treat day, so its the kind of place you can take the kids more than once.

So the baltimore Zoo gets a really bad rap. It starts becuase of its location (Druid Hill Park) which is not the most popular part of the city and continues becuase many of its exhibits seem very aged. The last fifteen years or so they have been doing lots of renevations, revamping the Zoo, but the problem is with the National Zoo so close, its hard to complete. Parking is free at the Baltimore Zoo, and everyone loves the polar bear exhibit but when it comes down to Id rather park at a park and ride and take the metro into DC and see a much better, cleaner, and newer looking Zoo. Plus having the pandas doesnt hurt either!

This Zoo has more than 2000 animals , birds, reptiles here. The best i liked was the polar bear. There were 2 of them and they was just fantastic. This was the first tiem I was seeing the real polar bear. The Zoo had different enviorements suites for every animal so that he is comfartable. Overall it is good for Kids. Infact a treat for kids to visit all the animals of the jungle. The toy store of it has a good collection of animals which kids would like to pick one for home. It has kept the natural ambience, and terrific place for kids entertainment.

This zoo is nothing more than your average zoo. While it is quite large, it is also very old so the exhibits are pretty outdated. The grounds are not really taken care of that well, but then again it is a zoo. If you are looking for a better zoo in the area, check out the Washington DC zoo.

Here's the problem with the Baltimore Zoo: it isn't the National Zoo. With the National Zoo so close, so magnificent, and so, well, free, it's hard to remember what the Baltimore Zoo *is*--a really good zoo by any standards. Who cares if there aren't any pandas? Over the past 15 years, the Baltimore Zoo has done a lot to renovate and make their exhibits more appealing and educational. They still suffer from their location (in Druid Hill Park in a part of the City that not many venture into regularly) but once you've navigated through those roads, the setting is beautiful and parking is free. That alone makes up for the difference in admission between the National Zoo and our own. Your kids will love it--the polar bear exhibit is always fun, and my daughter loves the prairie dog exhibit as well. Signage is very good--both for navigating through the Zoo and for learning more about what you are seeing. If you can swing it, go on a weekday in September--the summer crowds are gone and the school field trips haven't started up yet.

This is probably, hand-down, the best zoo I've ever visited. It's huge. The animals all seem well cared for and happy. There are little things to do strewn between just seeing the animals like climbing into a birds nest for a picture or crossing the suspension bridge. The snack pavillion provides the perfect break and there is fried dough... not funnel cakes (this make a big difference to me). There is a train you can ride on with the kids and a couple of small amusement like kiddie rides. A great deal for the low admission price.
