I went to Brewer's Art with a group of 10 people to celebrate my birthday. The accommodations were easy for them, even at the tail end of restaurant week. We got in a little earlier than we would normally eat, and the service remained impeccable throughout the busy dinner hour. The food was really amazingly good, and their beer and drinks were great too. After dinner, we went down to the charmingly almost-divey bar. It was a blast!

Brewer's Art is one of our favorite bars. It has great atmosphere, and an impressive beer selection. Besides their own brews, they have an extensive list of beers available from around the world. Its location makes it a perfect place to meet for drinks before or after eating at one of the many Mt. Vernon restaurants--or right there in their own dining room (although the food is only so-so). Try and snag one of the couches by the fire place, or head downstairs into the dimly lit basement, where it can be a bit smokey, but you will definitely feel you're in with the cool crowd.

This place is incredibly crowded, but the long wait at the bar is tolerable only because the food and beer are both excellent. The vegetable sandwich is the best I've had during my weekend in Baltimore, and their fries are top-notch and addictive. The beer is good, solid Belgian style, some was high in alcohol. The service was good considering the large crowd of people, but I wouldn't say they were particularly friendly.
Pros: Great food, decent prices
Cons: Super crowded, uncomfortable during happy hour

I love to drink their beer, especially in the basement. But don't bother with the fine dining (amateurish at best).

The bar at the Brewer's Art is a great chill hangout spot. If i liked beer, i'd be in heaven with all the interesting-sounding brews. If you go, be sure to order the garlic french fries - probably the best bar food you'll ever eat. They're garlicy and topped with rosemary - absolute perfection! I dream of those french fries....

This is the true bipolar eatery. Upon entering the tavern downstairs, you immediately catch the earthy stone-walled pub feel. Lighting is dim at best, but it serves to further the atmosphere of comraderie and drunkeness that will eventually take over the wee hours of the night. Upstairs, however, a fine-dining experience awaits the refined crowd. World-class chefs and inspired dishes grace every diner, every evening. No lunch is available, but it's worth the wait for dinner.
The real star is the Brewers Art's homestyled authentic Belgian Beers, ranging from sweet to pungent and lots of alcohol in between. These brews are so good that nearly every other reputable bar in town carries at least one of these Belgian beauties. Not to be missed.

Never had "rude" service here, but it does get loud and crowded, so it can be a little slow. Downstairs is a little young (mostly 20's) for me, but upstairs is great. Haven't had a bad experience in several dozen visits over the years.
Pros: great beer, fries, atmosphere
