Eddie's Market might not be the cheapest grocery store in the Charles village area, but it definitely is one of the friendliest. Very convenient to the Johns Hopkins area, it serves everything from fresh crabcakes and sandwiches to a fine kosher offering. The cashiers are always nice and Eddie himself sometimes comes out to greet the shoppers. They also take J-Cash which is very nice for those BlueJay shoppers. Granted its a bit more expensive than the other grocery stores like Safeway and Superfresh, the extra cost is definitely worth it.

The employees at Wells are always willing to go the extra mile. They will help you find that perfect wine or spirit and offer suggestions. If you're looking for something they don't have in stock, they'll order it for you. They'll pack your purchases well and help you carry them to your car. I've never had a bad experience at Wells.

More
University Mini-mart (aka Uni-Mini) is a typical convenience store with some extras that make it great.
This small store contains everything that one might need at 4 am - frozen dinners, soda, ice cream, smoking supplies, medicine, even a rack with a variety of cheeses. Especially popular at all hours of the night are the sandwiches - from steak to seafood, Uni-mini sandwiches are a staple to this community.
In addition to the normal fare of convenience store goodies, there is a rack of middle eastern food - grapeleaves, tahini (sesame seed sauce), burghul wheat, sesame candy. They also sell authentic hookahs and make an excellent falafel-hummus sandwich.
It's a convenience store - given this, the prices are still reasonable. The clerks are friendly and talkative, and frequently yell at each other in fast Arabic - the place is always hopping and active.

This is a nice family owned store that offers an old time market atmosphere. The ownership has been making a lot of changes over the last few years. They offer farm fresh produce from local farms picked up daily during the summer months. Eddies also has a terrific deli and the best turkey sandwich you will find in the city. They offer a very good beer and wine selection. They have recently added Zeke's coffee a local favorite! The salad bar has improved greatly as well. I would highly recommend this business.

Towson's Stoneleigh Duckpin Bowling is in the connected basements of a row of rowhomes on York Road in Towson. You enter through the front door of one of the townhomes and go immediately down a flight of stairs - it's like a secret staircase to a hidden room, and just adds to the atmosphere. Duckpin bowling is perfect for kids, the snack bar is well stocked, and it's never overcrowded.

If you're an aspiring wine connoisseur, then you will enjoy a trip to the Chesapeake Wine Company. Not only do they carry a fabulous selection of wines, but they also offer classes in wine appreciation! The classes are reasonably priced, and a good place to start if you're a wine novice like myself. The class I took was taught by the owner of the shop, who told us he personally tastes every wine in the store. I have to say, I've tried a bunch of the ones he carries, and I've never been disappointed.

More
I love Whole Foods and wish they would open one closer to where I llive because this one isn't exactly convenient to the northern burbs! But I go when I can for the freshest, highest quality produce (much of which is organic), the readymade pasta sauces, the cheese, the breads, the whole grain products and other goodies in jars and cans! It just all looks so good! They often have free samples out of several different things and I invariably end up buying at least one just because it tastes so good. Great marketing ploy!
The checkout is quick even when the place is crowded, which it usually is. Parking is tight and there is a lot of moving traffic in the lot.

More
Broadway Market is a staple of busy busy Fell's Point. You can't miss the Market if you tried; it's smack dab in the middle of the road. If you pass it, you'll end up in the harbor. It's got a large assortment of produce, deli items, and prepared food vendors. It's inside, (and quarters are a bit tight) but it's around all season. A great find for a quick snack while you're on Broadway.
