We will NEVER take our cats back to a dog and cat hospital. When my cat began losing weight and drinking more, we took him to the cat and dog vet in Perry Hall that we'd been going to for years. They told us they needed to keep him overnight to administer fluids and determine what was wrong. After 3 days they still had no diagnosis, so we decided to bring him home and look elsewhere for answers. We chose CHAT since they only treat cats. Dr.Brunt examined Tigger and knew as soon as she smelled his breath that it was diabetes. Tests confirmed this and it convinced me to transfer the records of my other cats. The doctors are current on the latest in feline medicine and appointments with a specific doctor are always honored when requested. The front desk staff and vet techs are kind to the cats and the clients. The cats are less stressed with no dogs in the office. DCR

If you are interested in top quality, excellent veterinary care for your precious cats, from caring, supportive, highly trained and technically skilled veterinarians then Cat Hospital at Towson (CHAT) is the place for you. If you are interested in finding the cheapest available care, then it is not. Dr. Jane Brunt who is the founder of CHAT, the first all-feline practice in Maryland is focused not only on routine care such as vaccinations and the treatment of sick animals, but also on preventive medicine, which has been important in making advances in human health, but has more recently come to the forefront in veterinary medicine.
I have been taking my cats to CHAT for over 15 years, and am entirely satisfied with their care, from the cheerful, helpful, caring receptionists, to the highly trained veterinary technicians who provide the interface between the veterinarians and the patients and their owners. In this time, I have seen turnover in both the techs and the vets, but ther

I've been taking my cats to CHAT since 1984 even thought it is a 45 minute drive from my home. We've been through a lot together. From everyday cat concerns like cystitis and bladder stones to rare cancers and intractable stomatitis. They have been behind me every step of the way. Fantastic technical expertise when that is needed; compassion when that is needed. I have cats who are alive and happy today only because my doctor at CHAT wouldn't give up until she figured out what was going on and how to help. Through the internet and my rescue avocation I have a lot of opportunities to hear questions from cat owners, along with what their vet has said and suggested in response. What passes for veterinary expertise out there in the world is frighteningly inaccurate much of the time. We are so lucky in this area. We have CHAT and all the specialists with whom they have taken the time to develop relationships. Is it cheap? Everything's relative. I think humans are so isolated

While I found CHAT to be a place where they definitely like cats, my impression of them as veterinarians was not a positive one. Their prices are incredibly high for the level of service and attention you get. I never saw the same doctor over a two-year span of going there, and could rarely get straight answers or good advice. After consulting with another vet who I trust completely, I found that they did a number of unnecessary procedures and tests that drove up the bill. For example, my cat needed to get a procedure done that they quoted me $1000 for. After talking to the other vet, I was able to have it done for $200 with excellent results. Their front office staff is nice, but I found the doctors to be cold and hurried. Most people I know who have taken their cat there at one time have since switched vets due to to high prices and/or bad experiences. There are many other vets in Baltimore who will love your cat just as much, if not more!

I really liked the fact it was in a house instead of a cold clinical setting. The care was fine but they definitely try and run up the bill with a bunch of tests you probably don't need. Also, if your cat is sick and you need blood tests you have to wait to get them back from a lab which can take a day or two. For what they charge they should be able to do their own blood tests there at the hospital.

I have been seeing Dr. Brunt and her staff since 1997. When I moved here after living overseas for years I asked my hometown vet in Missouri, the one I called whenever I had a health care crisis with my cats while outside the U.S., who she would recommend in Maryland. She highly recommended Dr. Brunt. I have many vets, including cats only, much closer but I continue going to C.H.A.T.. She and all of her staff are extremely caring with your family members (cats). Over the last year I have lost my three cats that were 17 and 18 years old. The care was considerate and compassionate and they were always ready to help me figure out quality of life issues and ways of taking care of my cats that would be good but less costly. They taught me how to do some procedures so I could care for them at home which saved considerable money. Without my knowledge they also made a donation in my cats names to Cornell University Vet School (for cats) as a memorial for them. They also care and donate time an

After recently moving here we tried this vet; they had the characteristics of vet hospitals I avoid: impatient with questions; not offering sensible suggestions; aggressive with tests; expensive approach - resistant to discussing best and cost sensitive path, including w/o an emergency - waiting for faxed prior test results. And while waiting on porch for the rain, an obviously departing vet came out, with a mostly enclosed sports type bag in one hand - with a cat, with an i.v., laying down/scooped inside it, without floor support; what's with that.

Chat Cat Hospital on York Road is the only cat-only animal hospital in the area. Dr. Jane Brunt obviously loves cats and kittens and takes such good care of them. It is such a relief to have a place so close to my home. My cats love it here. Although they may not be open everyday, they do have a twenty-four hour/seven day a week emergency service.
