Atomic books is right in Hampden, in a cute little house. Its small, but don't let that fool you. There's a huge magazine and zine assortment, and lots and lots of interesting books to browse. Be on the lookout for readings and other activities here - it was lots of fun when the Found Magazine people came through! The prices are good, and you can be happy that your money is supporting a local institution.

Its somewhat underwhelming exterior conceals a vibrant interior teeming with books and staffed by people who really love their work. Atomic is a great place for hunting down something hard to find or meeting new friends.

Easily the most well-known and well-respected local bookstore in the area. The best part about this place is the staff, they truely know what they are doing and are some really great people. If you like to read, check out this place and give b&n a break.

There are two great things about this store. One, everything is neatly organized and it is clearly divided into sections. Two, the staff knows where everything is. If you ask them for a certain book, they don't have to go into a computer to find it. They know their stock and they know their store. That is something that I have not found to be true in the big bookstores. Their selection is great and their prices--you just can't beat them. I have often come across a bargain and great reads here.

This is a weird little place in Hampden stocked full of books, zines, CDs, DVDs, and so forth. The topics range from alien abduction to tattooing to conspiracy theories, to all things alternative. It is a very Baltimore-like establishment in the heart of one of the city's most offbeat neighborhoods. In addition to selling books, etc. the store is also an active community hot spot for people who are into alternative stuff, sponsoring book signings, festivals, and the like. Check it out-- you may end up browsing all day.

it's amazing how there's something for everyone in this small bookstore. Comic books, alterna-porn, knitting guides, design magazines--whatever your fancy, odds are there's at least one book here that will make you happy. There's also a weekly knit night that takes place in the retro-styled basement.
