Pros: Staff, Quality cuts and color, Good prices Cons: They could use a larger space but the staff makes up for it with good customer service

I made an appointment @ Tenpachi and on my way there it started POURING down rain. It was my first time there and I couldnt see anything except the white windshield so I pulled over and waited 10 min which made me late. I did not have their phone number w/me but I figured I would explain what happened when I got in there and that would be the end of it. I walked in, apologized for being 15 min late and said I had to pull over b/c I was blinded by the rain... Kelly, said nothing but showed me how upset she was about my lack of punctuality by literally pulling my hair out of my head during the wash. When I sat in the chair and looked in the mirror I said wow my cheeks are flaming red and thought oh thats b/c she just tried to pull my brains out through my hair follicles. I showed her a simple picture of a cut I have had done a million times before w/no issue and she said Um... 1 problem... your hair is curly and that will make you look like a poodle Long discussion short I told her to please just cut it as best as possible according to the picture, I asked her to thin it out and she did not, she chopped my hair in 10 min (just as painfully as she washed it) and then whipped my apron off of me and said o.k ready to rock and roll and she walked away. It was 1 of the rudest customer service experiences of my life and I will never go back. Thankfully it was $15 but she didnt deserve any of it

A few years ago my boyfriend & I went to Tenpachi for a quick summer trim. It was very quick - we were out (both of us) in ten minutes. The stylist l;ooked as if we were putting us out and was in a big hurry. When I got home I had to cut my hair myself as she hadn't taken the time to even i up. I don't remember her name but I decided not to go back. I just needed a trim recently so I thought I'd give them another try. The service was great! The stylist was super friendly and took time with my hair. I had been growing my hair out from a short inverted bob and she remarked how I had no layers. Well she fixed that! Sadly she totally butchered my hair thinning out the bottom ends and leaving me looking like a mushroom. I called and they were very nice and said to come in and they would fix it for free. I did and the manager basically said it couldn't be fixed and just cut it into a shorter more thinning mushroom. I now have to go get all of my hair cut off hopefully only to the chin. NEVER GO THERE~

after moving to baltimore in early 06, I had been to i don't know how many places to get anything from a simple trim, to my roots touched up. and everywhere I went the person either didn't understand, or they just did what ever they wanted to do anyway. anyways a friend told me about tenpachi, so I went to the one on eastern avenue. the girls were really nice, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. I got my highlights done, my hair trimmed, and styled for under $100! I'm so excited to finally find a place here that does a good job without charging way too much. so if your'e looking for a new stylist, go to my girl her name is shayna (sp?) she did exactly what I asked her to, and had some good suggestions. Pros: great staff, knowledgable stylists Cons: parking

I just went to Tenpachi for the first time and was really really happy with the results! Nikki did exactly what I asked, and it was so quick and easy. It only cost me $13, where can you beat that price and STILL get a great haircut? The last time I paid that cheap of a price was at a Hair Cuttery and I literally left in tears... since then I'd been going to an upscale salon but it got to be too expensive. I know they are sticklers for being on time, but when I ran in and asked to go pay my meter (which would have made me late), they had absolutely no problem with it. I was extremely happy with the results! Nikki was very friendly, and I am going back in this weekend to get some color treatment! The whole experience was a very positive one.

I find Tenpachi is a generally good deal. It's not a NYC salon, it's not haute culture, but it's good, cheap, and the stylists are competent enough. Find one you like. Some are better than others.

I've always thought the service was great and she does a nice job on my hair. I think they probably do a better job with guys' hair than with girls', but that could be because guys are easier to please. Pros: Cheap, quick, friendly service Cons: no parking, too quick

My boyfriend was a regular customer at Tenpachi & I decided to try it myself. Everytime he would come home, I'd have to trim what they missed while he was there. They didn't do a very good job on my hair either. My hair is straight as an arrow and long, and there were still hairs they missed. I don't recommend going there unless you feel like trimming it up again when you go home. We also experienced the whole "if you're not here, reschedule" thing. Even if you're less than 5 minutes late, they make you schedule a whole new appointment. Pros: cheap price, chill atmosphere Cons: sub-par haircut (and that's what you're going there for!)
