A few of my friends lived in the Carlyle while residing in Baltimore, and all of them seemed pretty happy. The apartments are pretty darn spacious with large living rooms and plenty of storage space. Since it's part hotel and part apartments, the atmosphere is a bit stuffy (complete with that hotel smell...). Overall, a nice place to live but a little far from the Johns Hopkins campus if you're a student.

The Carlyle Apartments are located near the Johns Hopkins University, on University Parkway. I lived there for a year with a roommate in a fairly spacious, upper level apartment with a nice view of the city. All in all, it was a decent place to live--but the elevators were slow, rent was a little steep, and the management could be a little bit disorganized. But the places are very big, and have parquet flooring. Also, they have a 24 hr doorman, and I always thought the building was very safe. One other point--the building is also home to a hotel--which can be convenient if you have guests from out of town--but can also mean there are random people wandering the halls at times.
