The zoo is just a few minutes from the Inner Harbor, and has a lot to offer the young and old. The one issue I find is that the zoo is very hilly and it can be hard to walk up and down it all day. They restarted the tram which helps getting around the zoo much easier. The new poar bear exhibit is exciting and amazing to visit. I really like the penguin exhibit, especially when it's feeding time. The trainers are very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend visiting this zoo!

The Baltimore Zoo in Maryland is a great local zoo for the kids. My 2 year old is in love with elephants so we decided to take her here. The zoo isn't very big but perfect for kids who tire easy. It was great to be able to see not only local wild life but animals from all over. The polar bear exhibit was amazing. The walls are glass so you are able to see them up close. They also have a bird "cage" that you can go inside and feed many different types of birds. I would highly recommend the Baltimore Zoo in Maryland as a great place for a family outing.

When the Baltimore Zoo changed its name to the Maryland Zoo there were some changes inside the park too. They got rid of a lot of older exhibits (that weird monkey house) and added some great new ones (the polar bear exhibit). If you plan on going more than twice with your family, getting a membership pays off by your second or third trip. Membership also gets you into exciting events.
Well worth the trip!

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is home to more than 2,200 animals and is one of the oldest zoos in the nation. The zoo is such a great place to visit because you can see so many animals from this country and many others that you wouldn't normally get to see. At the zoo you can also go behind the scenes and experience things like becoming a penguin keeper. It's a great place for the whole family to visit and learn.
