Bainbridge is a great place to come visit, and as you're walking along Winslow Way you will run into the Eagle Harbor bookstore. It's a great place to wander into and take a break. They have a nice selection and some comfy chairs to sit down and read in. I would recommend it for sure.

Located on Bainbridge Island, this museum offers kids a great way to explore and learn about the rainforests, learn arts and crafts, and be exposed to various musical instruments.
I first learned about them when Bill Nye - the Science Guy - was giving a presentation in conjunction with them. That is great exposure.
Atmosphere is pleasant with room to maneuver in. There is a nice size lobby area full of gifts. The building has two levels. They could use more parking, though.
The building itself is very recognizable with its bright colors. Cool...

For a good meal, fast service and a very convenient location, Simon's is the place. It's a perfect place to grab a meal before or after seeing a movie. The "Happy Family" dish is great and so is the Hot and Sour soup. It's usually not so crowded so it offers fast service.

A great little neighborhood bistro, we ended up here after a lovely ferry ride from Seattle...housed in an old Tudor style building we were reminded of trips to Europe. The ambiance is very cozy and romantic, the service was prompt, knowledgeable, and warm. We lingered over a nice bottle of Chateneuf du Pape and Rosemary Chicken, the bread pudding is a must have. It was well worth the trip from the city..our only regret is that it is not our neighborhood restaurant!
Pros: romantic, great food, resonable prices
Cons: a destination trip

Town and Country (or T&C as the locals call it) is not your typical grocery store. There is an abundance of organic produce and natural items available. They have the typical grocery items as well, but it tends to be a little more expensive than most chain stores. It is very clean and the employees are always friendly. There are tables where you can sit in the floral/magazine section and get a freshly brewed espresso drink.

This is a very large garden reserve in Bainbridge island, just 45 minutes (ferry plus drive time) from downtown Seattle. The reserve is on an appointment system to control visitor flow so you don't feel crowded once you are in. The place is very nice for a stroll in any season. The Japanese garden is a serene place to be in autumn and the reflection pond is captivating. One cautionary note though, the ground doesn't allow any picnic or eating. So it is better to feed up before you hit the gate.

Some of the nicest people I met on the island worked here! The selection was limited but the service was exceptional. My girlfriend and I got matching sweatshirts and for 40 percent off no less! Great little shop aimed mostly to women but has a fair amount of men's dress clothing as well. Highly recommended!

Madoka is a lovely restaurant. They call it fusion, but the mix of Japanese and Northwest is far more complimentary and harmonious than some of the crazier, contrasting, yet still very good, fusion restaurants like Indian and Italian. As an islander, one of the problems I face is finding a nice place to have a top of the line meal without having to spend an arm and a leg getting to Seattle. There are several restaurants on Bainbridge that satisfy this dilema, and Madoka is definitely tied for first. It is romantic, the crowds are reasonable, and it never gets too loud. It has a wonderful upstairs dining area if you really want to get away from the other tables, and the service is very good. There's plenty of parking around the area and the menu is mouthwatering. The wine list is decent, but I go there for the tea, not the wine; the tea is top notch and truly accentuating. Then there's the food! It is cooked excellently and prepared artistically. From appetizers to desserts, they are all very fine. And I almost forgot to mention, the prices are great too!
Pros: Price, food, ambience
Cons: I can
