Not impressed by the store itself. If your looking for homeopathic voodoo this is the place for you. Don't waste your time here as they carry only holistic and alternative medicine products that are severely overpriced. Very few food items carried.

There is a treasure tucked away and hidden in a plethora of cute little shops on Bainbridge Island, and that is Bainbridge Baker's. It offers just what I need to start my day- delicious, fresh-baked pastry delicacies, a cozy, friendly environment complete with highly comfortable seating and a constantly wonderful staff. I can't decide what's better- to treat a group of friends to a small party of pastries, coffee and reminiscing, to come with just one friend and we'll talk for hours, or to come alone, with just myself and a novel I can burrow into. Whatever way I come to Bainbridge Bakers, I never cease to enjoy myself. This is a delightful bakery.

What a jewel there is over on Bainbrdige Island where we were treated to delicious sushi meal by friends. They say that the chef is owner and it shows.
Very very fresh, well-prepared sushi and attentive service by chef's wife.
There was live music when we were there. All the tables had been reserved the Friday we ate there, so it must be popular.
Hope to get invited there again!!!! :-)
Pros: quality of sushi, quiet ambience, service

We went to this vineyard on a Sunday afternoon and the owner gave us a free tour of his vineyard and talked a lot about winemaking. It was really interesting to see a locally owned business at work, and the wine is really good as well. Most bottles were between 10-20 dollars. It's always nice to see the person who makes your food and wine, and this was a really nice experience. If you are taking the ferry, definitely drive on, because the vineyard is far from the ferry dock.

The Big Star reopened in April with a new operator. I had ignored it until a friend told me he had the best breakfast ever...pork tamales with green chile sauce and two eggs on top. I had to try it. When I saw chilaquiles on the menu, I had to try them. Superb! Made fresh from scratch, they were the best I have ever eaten and I have spent a lot of time in Mexico searching.
So how is it that a diner on Bainbridge has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten? The owner (very much an anglo) grew up in Mexico City and operated restaurants in San Miguel de Allende.
In addition to 15-20 unique Mexican dishes, the large menu has all the traditional diner favorites. The owner can really cook, so I am sure they are just as tasty.
Big Star is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two items I mentioned are on the breakfast menu, but you can get them all day.
Highly recommended!

Used to be great when it was on the south-end, the move to winsow only did bad things for its caliber AND reputation. Now its some Pan-Asian fusion place that's supposed to be refreshingly ecclectic for the often culinarily sterile BI.

This is clearly the best bakery in town, too bad everyone knows it and the crowds are almost unbearable these days. I recommend one of the many fun, exotic teas with two thick-cut pieces of homemade wheat toast, loaded with yummy butter and locally produced strawberry jam. THe best breakfast for miles. Granola is the best, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. My friend and I even called the bakery one time while we were making granola to ask if we could talk to the baker about his secrets. He totally obliged, and our granola was (almost) as good as Blackbirds. Only on Bainbridge.
Pros: Pastries, Service, Atmosphere
Cons: Not enough seating, CROWDS!

If you are gluten-free, they have the best 3 berry muffins yet. Believe me, I have done the hunt. Since I live in Eastern Washington but travel to Winslow every so often, I buy a dozen and freeze them. My friend, who is also gluten-free agrees with me and so does her son, who is gluten-free.
