Joe Rutigliano is a dedicated auto mechanic. He's also something very rare - an honest auto mechanic. If Joe can't fix something, he will tell you before he begins the work. We had a Mercury Tracer that needed the transmission rebuilt and he helped us find another business that was better able do the job. My husband had a Toyota Corolla that needed some work done and Joe said he wouldn't work on it because the exhaust system (I believe it was) was so complicated and difficult to work on. He's an expert auto mechanic, however, and loves what he does.

Allstate has been my insurance company since 1987. I've had one auto accident since then and Allstate came through with flying colors. We also had damage to our car after last year's hurricanes passed through and Allstate helped get our cars repaired with ease. However, we're still waiting for a check after approximately six months. We've called Allstate's office several times and they don't seem to be following through.
It seems if the going is smooth when a claim is filed, then everything will work out great. But if something goes awry after a claim is filed, it is difficult to get Allstate's office to follow through.

I say Freda's Fantasies looks like an interesting shop because in the ten or so years I've known of its existence, I have never found it open. And I pass by there during daytime hours - not the middle of the night. There is a sign on the door with a phone number that says you can call for an appointment but that doesn't seem very convenient to me. From standing outside and looking in, the shop seems to be FULL of fabulous items. I just hope I find it open one day.

My late husband had several items embroidered at Designer's Top Shop. They have a nice little shop in downtown Avon Park not too far off Main Street. They made a couple of embroidered patches and baseball caps for my husband. The woman who owns the shop is very helpful in designing the item you're interested in and her work is very good, but their turn around time has always taken longer than first promised.
Designer's Top Shop sells shirts, caps, jackets, shorts and a few other items in their store (although their prices seem high to me). They will either screen print or embroider a design on these items or something you've brought in.

Once housed next to Hendricks Market, Economy Auto Parts now owns their own building a few doors west. I think their prices are higher than Discount Auto, which is out on US 27, but they are a friendly group and are usually willing to help you solve your car problems. At times, they will even walk out to the parking lot with you, look at your car, help replace a part and discuss what ails your vehicle.

Although not a super store like Wal-Mart, Federal Discount does have some prices which are comparable and even a little less. You've really got to know your prices and compare, though, or you will probably overpay. Federal Discount has some items which Wal-Mart does not stock. Federal Discount is much easier to get in and out of than Wal-Mart.

When I want to wash our pillows and heavy comforters, I take them to Avon Plaza Coin Laundry. The commercial washers and dryers they have can easily handle these heavy loads and I save unnecessary wear and tear on our machines at home. I also was glad to have this coin laundry nearby when the washer I have at home went on the blink. It took nearly three weeks for it to be repaired and I could not have gone that long without washing clothes!
