Dr. Frank Handley began this veterinary practice in the early 1950s. Dr. Howard S. Jones, Jr. purchased the practice from him in the early '80s. Dr. John H. Young joined the practice in 1989 and continued as an associate until Dr. Jones' retirement in 2000 when Dr. Young purchased the practice. We've dealt with both Dr. Jones and Dr. Young and have been very happy with both. We've always been able to get an emergency appointment, if necessary. (I had another vet's office tell me their soonest appointment was 10 days. And my dog needed immediate attention!) Even non-emergency appointments are made within a reasonable time period. The waiting room is spacious and pleasant. The office staff has always been kind, patient and helpful. And last but not least, the fees are reasonable.

Highlands Animal Hospital has come to our rescue several times when our regular vet couldn't see us. The staff who answers the phone is always willing to listen to what I have to say and help in whatever way they could. We were in a predicament one time with an unaltered male dog and a female dog who was in heat. Although, Highlands Animal Hospital could not neuter our male for a couple of days, they kept him at their facility without charge to keep our female from getting pregnant. This was undoubtedly above and beyond what most other hospitals or clinics would have done.
