More
The name comes from the 150-year-old Jacaranda tree growing where the hotel was to be built in 1923 - the Florida Boom Era. The tree was a landmark in town and there was much ado that it had to be felled to make room for the building. In fact, local citizens tried to replant the giant tree elsewhere, but it failed.
For several years, the hotel was known as the "Queen of the Ridge," thanks to its elegant accommodations and fine dining. The Great Depression of the 1930s and the War Years of the 1940s robbed her of her youth and sparkle. A series of loving owners tried their best to maintain her but the new trend toward highway hotels was just too much and the downward spiral continued. By 1988, the Jacaranda teetered on the edge of being closed down; but South Florida Community College came to the rescue. The college got into the Jacaranda act because of (1) its expanding programs in culinary arts, hospitality management and historic building restoration; (2) the need for student housing; and, (3) the desire to improve the economy of the community.
An enthusiastic crew of college staff, students and volunteers began the tedious jobs of scraping off all the accumulated coats of paint, patching, sealing, repainting, restoring the brass hardware and china fixtures, refinishing the wood floors, rewiring and re-plumbing.
Today, the "Jac" offers guests a choice of restored guest rooms, mini suites, master suites and grand suites, with the grand suite featuring a living room, two bedrooms and two baths. The restored lobby readily lends itself to relaxing, reading, conversing, card playing or working puzzles. And there's a heated, enclosed swimming pool.
Except in the summer, the dining room is open for lunch and dinner, with a southern-style buffet, salad bar and an a la carte menu. A grand buffet is offered on Sundays. It is closed Saturdays and Mondays.

I was skeptical at first about such a small motel, but I'm really glad I booked my family reunion here. Compared to the other places in the general area, their value was the best.
My large family took up most of the rooms at this motel- and all I can say is Wow!
They had free breakfast, served dinner, had bloody marys, and bent over backwards to meet every request we had- even keeping the pool open late on a warm night.
The rooms were the cleanest I've ever been in. When she serviced the room, our maid even used disinfectant on the remote control, light switches, and everything I could have imagined. She said it was something they do each time they service the room- even if the same guest is staying there.
They had high-speed internet, a fax machine available, and when we weren't eating there- they suggested great restaurants.
By the end of our week- they felt like a part of our family. My cousin has scheduled her wedding @ their banquet hall, and I'll be having an appreciation dinner for my central Florida clients.
I can't stop telling people about this place. I've traveled a lot as part of my job, and I've never been treated so well- or slept in a room that clean. The way I describe it is Mom Clean . . I could tell they really care about their business.
So, don't be put off by this little place. It's a hidden treasure, and anybody staying there once will soon find his/herself a regular. . . Not to mention- it feels good supporting a small business instead of some major hotel chain with people that don't care to remember my name.

Recently, old friends of mine came to visit and they stayed at the Lake Brentwood Motel. Lake Brentwood Motel is listed in the prestigious book Hidden Florida - The Adventurers' Guide. It is only one of seven motels recommended in Central Florida's Orlando to Arcadia Loop. One of the editor's comments was that if you stay here, you would experience an immediate drop in blood pressure.
Its quaint, stone-trimmed buildings invite you to recall a time when the pace was less hectic - a time when you could stop and enjoy the glorious gifts of nature. Unwind and delight in your surroundings. Be lulled to sleep by the unobtrusive sounds of night, and in the morning, greet the sun as it peeks over the edge of the sparkling lake.
My friends had a delightful visit in Avon Park and thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the Lake Brentwood Motel.

They are an ideal location for any business man who wants a quiet place and a safe stop over with great amenities. They also cater to those who want a relaxing retreat where all the hubbub of the tourist world can be easily reached.
Their policies are standard except perhaps for the following:
Adults only

No pets
They also have a coffee shop on the property.

We came here as a last resort because the other motels were full. We did not enjoy our stay here. Although it is located by the highway, therefore it is easily accesible, our night here at Oak Tree Inn was unpleasant. The place was overall small, noisy, dirty and we seemed assalted by putrid smells. We also worried about the plumbing and in the end refused to use the bathroom.
Not recommended.

I recently had a car wreck and needed to leave my car at the dealership for body work and repairs. I rented a car from Enterprise during the week my car had to be left at the dealership. I knew several days in advance that I would be renting the car so I called Enterprise to reserve a car and give them my claim number, etc. I was assured there would be a car held for me; however, when I arrived at Enterprise, there was not a single car available. In fact, the girl on duty didn't even have anything showing I had called and reserved a car. Although she was apologetic and was able to get a car for me from the Sebring location, it took over an hour to get everything arranged. I do have to say that Enterprise gave me a five-upgrade vehicle at no extra charge. (It did cost me more in gas, though.)
