Although I've never had a tax service prepare my taxes, I went with a friend to our local Jackson Hewitt this year. Housed in a temporary office, I found the two "accountants" to be very sloppy and unprofessional. There were two workers and one was dressed in jeans and a cropped top. She was sitting with her feet up under her and talking on the phone. We chose to sit at the other person's desk since she seemed available. Rather than wait on us, she continued to carry on a personal argument with the girl on the phone. They were arguing about who was supposed to work when. After she finally acknowledged our presence, it took her about ten minutes to enter numbers from three pieces of paper on a 1040EZ form. She then told my friend he owed them $141. He nearly flipped! I was just glad I'd decided to do my own taxes online.
