What a convenience it is to pop in for a bag of dog food and grab a steak for yourself at the same time. Where in this town can you get all that including getting a fishing license, notorizing paperwork and a tank of gas all at the same place? I think this place is branded as a little town secret. They have early hours and are kind to all people. So check this place out.

We served a buffet luncheon at my reception. These platters came from the deli and the people we dealt with were easy to work with and extremely helpful. They were patient and took time to answer all our questions. We never felt stupid or rushed. The platters were more than ample and there were still leftovers when we got back from our honemoon. In fact, they helped stretch our food dollars the first month of our marriage.

I've always found that the foods from the deli at Publix are of the highest quality and think this is true of all their platters, too.
Publix's bakery makes some of the prettiest and best tasting cakes I've ever seen or eaten. The Pit Stop is a drive-through convenience store. And I can't imagine what could be more convenient than not even having to get out of your car to buy your groceries. Their selection is extremely limited, however; much more so than even a Circle K or 7-11. They have milk, orange juice, sodas, Icees, candy bars, I believe beer and I'm not sure what else. We were out running errands one hot day last summer and wanted a frozen Coke so we stopped at Burger King, which is right next door. Their machine was not working so we decided to try the Pit Stop. There were three women working there who couldn't wait on us fast enough so service was exceptional but they were priced even higher than Burger King. Since that first visit, I've driven through one other time for milk. I was ill at the time and had to have milk but didn't feel like going into the grocery store. Although it was a big help to be able to buy milk so easily, a quart was almost the same price I pay for a gallon of milk on sale. Needless to say, I would only buy here in a dire emergency.

Save A Lot is a no-frills grocery store. They don't have name brands. They don't have paper or plastic bags. However, they DO have very low prices. I've bought fresh fruit, breads, frozen foods and ground turkey from Save A Lot and have always been satisfied with the quality.

Our Save-A-Lot has some low prices but not the kind of prices I hear people across the country talk about. I will sometimes see sale prices in their advertising flier that I'll go in for but not very often. They had potatoes at an exceptional price about six months ago and their price on bananas is usually 20 cents less per pound than Wal*Mart's (which usually has the lowest prices in town). Our Save-A-Lot does not have many name brand products and, of course, you have to pack your own groceries which is hard for me since I have muscular dystrophy and am not supposed to lift anything heavier than 5 pounds. The store was revamped in the last couple of months and seems to be a bit cleaner now. I'll pick up a few things when I pay my bill at TECO, which is right next door, but shop here much more than that.

Although Winn-Dixie sometimes has great loss leader sales, it is my least favorite grocery store of the three big names in town - Publix, Albertson's and Winn-Dixie. It seems to be the dirtiest store to me. Perhaps that's just because it's the oldest and looks dirtiest. Their employees seem to be the least helpful. On more than one occasion, I've stood at a checkout register or at the customer service desk and not even been acknowledged for several minutes. If you see me in Winn-Dixie, you'll know they are having a fabulous sale on something!
