Located on Main Street, we often see young dancers coming and going at Center Stage. Sometimes we'll get lucky and catch them practicing their moves out in front or in the parking lot of the studio. It always brings a smile to our faces. Although I am much too old to have taken classes at Center Stage, the dancers from this business always participate in the Christmas parade. They do an excellent job and we thoroughly enjoy watching them march, dance, prance and strut their stuff down Main Street!

More
Our local YMCA sponsors a lot of programs for such a small community and BMX racing is one of them. What was once an ugly, smelly garbage dump became a site where fill dirt and gravel were excavated. About 5 1/2 years ago, the local YMCA bought that site and turned it into what it is today - a fabulous BMX race track.
Practice sessions are usually held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Races are held sporadically on Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. Contestants may register for the race between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.

More
Although it is closed for the summer, South Florida Community College's Museum of Florida Art and Culture (MOFAC) on the college campus is a fabulous place to spend an hour or two. It consists of three main sections - the library, exhibits and archeology. In the library, you can read about Florida's art tradition (the oldest in the New World), get tips on collecting art and/or visit their Florida bookstore. The exhibits include a guest artist exhibit and a fabulous collection of Highwaymen paintings. The archaeological area consists of exhibits from Highlands County and the Kissimmee Valley region.
