Highlands Animal Hospital has come to our rescue several times when our regular vet couldn't see us. The staff who answers the phone is always willing to listen to what I have to say and help in whatever way they could. We were in a predicament one time with an unaltered male dog and a female dog who was in heat. Although, Highlands Animal Hospital could not neuter our male for a couple of days, they kept him at their facility without charge to keep our female from getting pregnant. This was undoubtedly above and beyond what most other hospitals or clinics would have done.

Although Dr. Griffin is not my regular veterinarian, I have dealt with him in several emergency situations. He has always been able to meet us at his office immediately, has always seemed to know exactly what he was talking about and has always been able to help my sick or injured pets. His staff has always been very helpful and comforting, too.

I've been taking my pets to Dr. Saunders since soon after he first opened his office. In fact, I remember when he was writing an article for our local newspaper and his practice was mobile. I was his 35th client and have NEVER regretted choosing him. We rescue stray animals and foster cats and dogs for the Humane Society so we deal with Dr. Saunders a lot. When our beloved Bailey was extremely ill two years ago, another local vet (who was on call that night) said, "Well, he'll either be dead or alive in a week." Dr. Saunders, however, knew Bailey had pneumonia as soon as he saw him and started treatment immediately. He also sat up with Bailey the first two nights he was hospitalized. Due to Dr. Saunders' dedication, we were able to spend an extra month with our Bailey. In my opinion, Dr. Saunders is simply the BEST, most knowledgeable, most caring veterinarian in Highlands County (even if he is a little expensive).

Whether you're a teenager wearing braces or a 70-year-old needing dentures, Dr. Guelff will be able to help you. He's a highly skilled, gentle, kind man who is completely competent. My husband died of lung cancer. As he was undergoing chemotherapy, his dentures quit fitting correctly and became uncomfortable. He went to an oral surgeon in Sebring but he wanted to make an entire set of new dentures. Because my husband was dealing with lung cancer and chemotherapy, he didn't want to go through having new dentures made at that time. This other oral surgeon refused to do anything less than make a new set of dentures. At the recommendation of a friend, we decided to go to Dr. Guelff. He understood my husband's situation and made some adjustments to his dentures which made them comfortable enough for him to continue wearing them.
