The city of Avon Park was truly blessed the day Alice Oldham decided to move here and take over leadership of the Housing Authority. When she arrived, our public housing was in sad disrepair. There were even units that were boarded up. Through her guidance, low income housing in this small town has become 5 star and the housing authority has worked to become financially independent.

The city of Avon Park actually did something right when it hired Alice Oldham to run the Avon Park Housing Authority. It was a great decision, something the residents of Avon Park can't often say about our city government. Ms. Oldham has taken a department full of with problems and turned it into something to be proud of. The Housing Authority runs two areas of low income housing: Delaney Heights on the north side of town and the area between Lake Tulane and Tulane Avenue. Time and again, Ms. Oldham has worked for the often overlooked residents in these developments. For instance, the residents in Delaney Heights now live more comfortably after central air conditioning was installed in their apartments last year. All I can say is, "Job well done!"
