Brunch at the Dakota Restaurant on Route 44 in Avon
On Sundays, these well-loved steak and seafood houses have your fill of standard brunch fare with some exciting embellishments thrown in.
If you're leaning toward the breakfast side of the equation, the chef will make an omelet to order or you can visit steaming trays of scrambled eggs, country sausage, bacon and spiced home fries. Swing by the bread, cheese and pastry table for muffins, croissants and water rolls or try a crispy Belgian waffle with fruit, syrup or chocolate sauce and a dollop of fresh whipped cream.
There is a fresh fruit and cereal station with varieties of grapes, melon, pineapple, berries and dried fruit like golden raisins and cranberries.
For those with lunch in mind the carving station offers roast beef and ham. Around the corner is a tray of smoked oysters, capers, horseradish sauce and roasted garlic and red peppers.
The salad bar is small but interesting. There are the expected raw vegetables along with some nice marinated salad combinations.
For dessert you can take the elegant route and savor a couple of golf-ball-size strawberries dipped in chocolate with your champagne, or you can take the downtown train and get a refill of coffee and indulge in brownies, carrot cake, pies, eclairs or Jell-o.

Our family usually goes once a month for thier brunch. it's well worth the money. extremely kid friendly...we have a 18 month old and a 5 year old. with reservations i don't seem to have to wait more then 5 or 10 minutes. When we've had to wait the employees were very helpful. My son was looking at the lobsters and an employee pulled it out for him to get a better look. As far as the food goes for bruch you can't get better. More then just the normal eggs and waffles. An entire table of fruit and fish are to enjoy as is a large selection of fresh made desserts. Haven't been there for dinner in a while...about 2 years but i've been there for lunch and have been satisfied every time. It's a very kid and wallet friendly place. Lunch usually costs the same as a nice meal at TGI Fridays but with better food. Would definetly recommend it as a great place for brunch.
Pros: kid friendly and yet appealing to parents
Cons: on the pricer side but still better then most chain restaurants

We had our rehearsal dinner here on 9/26/08 and it could not have been better. The service was top notch - attentive staff worked hard to see that all our needs were met. Hillary, you are the best! The food was also wonderful - prepared with attention to flavor and it was abundant. I can't say enough about how delighted we were. We were a group of 40 people and there was plenty of food - all hot and served at the same time. The bruchetta and stuffed eggplant were especially yummy. Don't miss a chance to dine at this cozy restaurant, where service and taste reign.

Simply a must try next time your in the Avon, Connecticut area.
The Live music was a real treat while enjoying our meal.
Pros: Best Filet Mignon in Connecticut, Charasmatic Service

If you love Italian this is an awesome place to go. They have roasted garlic and oil for your bread while you wait for your meal which is the best. I recommend every dish because I haven't had a bad meal yet. You definitely need to make reservations because it always packed.

Toshi is definitely the best in the area. I've tried most of the other sushi restaurants, but I always like Toshi the best. It has the best atmosphere and a classically trained Japanese sushi cheff, Hiro. In addition to all their sushi and rolls, I really love their "karaage" (Japanese fried chicken), which is not what you usually think of getting at a Japanese restaurant, but it's out of this world. You should try it.
Pros: fresh sushi, atmosphere, Hiro is the best
Cons: service is sometimes poor when they're really busy
