This place has consistantly put forth quality food and always has a friendly staff. The pizza is the best on the island. Their prices are fair and portions are what you would expect . They also have a great hamburger!
This is the only place I eat at for this type of food in Avalon. It been a staple in Avalon for many years.
Pros: good pizza and stromboli
Cons: closed in the winter

This store is a little hidden gem off the main drag. It is located on 21st Street in Avalon where it is known for restaurants and night clubs so I was shocked to find such a great store. The vibe is really relaxed and the sales people very helpful but not too pushy. They even told me not to buy a certain pair of pants because they did not look right on my body type --- and they were right!! Everything is displayed by coordinating color which makes it really easy to shop. It is now my first stop in shopping while in the Avalon area.
Pros: Great sales staff; large dressing rooms; plenty of free parking
Cons: They usually only carry one of each item. If you see it; like it; you better buy it because there is not more

I really like going here as opposed to Uncle Bill's because sometimes the kids dont get moving until much later in the day and by the time we get there, i at least have the option of doing something for lunch while they dine on breakfast. there is usually a line, but it goes very quickly. very good food. nice staff

Avalon Freeze is a classic dairy stand. It has stood for decades and is open every day in the summer. They offer both soft ice cream and yogurt, but only in vanilla and chocolate flavors. All taste excellent (even the fat-free yogurt). Water ice is also available for those who want something lighter, and it is decent. They make sundaes, shakes, and banana splits as well as many other treats. Their best item, however, is the "Avalon Freezer." Similar (but better than) a Dairy Queen "Blizzard," the Freezer involves choosing ice cream or yogurt, adding a candy like crushed M&Ms, mixing them together in the same machine used to make milkshakes, and then adding more candy to the top. It is fairly big, and fairly expensive ($5), but absolutely delicious. There is no wonder why the Freeze is crowded from around 7-11 PM (when they close) just about every night.

More
The Avalon Museum moved into its current location on 39th Street around 1998. Although the building is relatively small with only a few rooms of exhibits, there is much to learn here about this small shore town. Historical records and photographs dating back as far as the 19th Century as well as information about local businesses and homes are found here. There are also parts that focus on the development on the island as well as history-changing events such as the devastating March storm of 1962. The only full-time employee is a very knowledgeable and helpful man who stands ready to expand on any photo or artifact in the museum. As a non-profit, the museum lives completely on contributions from individuals and the support of the state. There is no admission charge, but they accept donations (which are well-deserved with the amount of effort put into the museum). Every visitor or local in the Avalon area should visit the museum once. It is open every day during the summer (although only into the mid-afternoon).
