Comales is the restaurant that I took every single client to when they visited Austin, and no one ever walked away disappointed. With lunch specials that run around five bucks, and homemade thick corn tortillas (always specify corn, not flour--they are such a treat!) you will walk away full of delicious authentic Mexican food and not break the bank. Try the Chicken Monterrey, served up with chorizo, grilled onions, tomatos and peppers.

This resturaunt is very good. They have two huge buffets with every to choose from. They have all types of noodles but my favorite are the fat ones. They have a unique taste to them. They even have sushi and california rolls. The desert is to die for! Get a pwdered cake. They are really full of fat but they are these fried buscuits and you shake white powdered sugar on them. Yummy!

Maudie's Hacienda is a must for any Tex-Mex food lover! The salsa and queso are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I think I could eat just that and be satisfied. My favorite entrée is most definitely the enchiladas. Maudie's is reasonably priced. This place gets busy and the restaurant is small, so be prepared to wait a bit, but the wait is well worth it. They also offer carry-out, discounts for lunch and a childs menu.

Coco's is a great place to get a refreshing drink. The bubble drink' are GREAT. I suggest asking for the drink with pearls and you will get the tapioca balls at the bottom that you can enjoy with a big straw that you get. The is so many flavors to choose from and they service is fast. They also have a food menu with some great selections of Taiwanese food.

The food is really great...try the Jalapeno Chicken or the Orange Chicken. But don't expect to get your water glass refilled. I have never had a worse dine-in experience than I did the day the waiter dumped our food off without so much as a smile or word and then never returned to check on us. So just get the food to go.

While, they do cost some bucks, (expect to spend at least $25 a person) it really is the best sushi in town. It's always fresh, otherwise they won't serve it. The guys on www.austinsushi.com agree with me. Try the Evil Knevil Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll, both are excellent.

I don't think this place is still open, but if it is, you should avoid it. The food was ok. It was just the service that was horrible and turned me away from this place. I went on a weeknight and three other tables were seated. We placed our order and it literally took them an hour to get us our food. One hour!! In a place that was not busy. Maybe the server forgot to place our order and remembered half an hour later when she saw us sitting there with no food. Whatever the reason, it turned me off to the place forever.

More
Mothers Cafe and Garden is a very lovely located in Hyde Park. All of their food is organic and great for the average austinite. They have the best salsa I have yet to taste. Whether you want to go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner they have different dishes that are great. One thing in particular that I really like about them is that their servings are just right. There are so many restaurants that give you so much to eat that it hurts to finish. Mothers is just right and you don't feel hungry an hour later. Oh and by the way sit in the Garden Room it is a nice relaxing touch to their great food.
