So, in the rating I had to leave one star because its mandatory, If it were up to me I'd give this place negative 2 stars.
So, as a former employee of this supposed luxurious establishment, but far from it, I remained friends with some staff. I recently found out that the owner Brad Wicall fired 2 of his staff members and forced another to quit after a morning of rude and threatening comments. I do remember the verbal abuse this man use to use on his staff as a tactic to scare them into saling retail.
From the 2 girls he fired, one was possibly the best colorist he had at this location and the other was the salon coordinator that was a great asset to his company.
I was very disheartened to find that after so many years, Brad still is a tyrant, bipolar and inconsistent owner. Many times, paychecks have bounced, he's demoted staff to suite his dwindling budget, runs ramped in unnecessary changes, goes on a firing rampage for no reason and talks down to his staff. He lacks professionalism and frankly, doesn't understand how to progress in business. Frankly, just because you keep a business afloat by screwing over your staff doesn't mean you are successful in your business.
The one blessing that does come from this place is the knowledge of what NOT TO DO or where to go.
The ladies that do put money in this business pockets (or Brad's so he can take yet another vacation) are absolutely wonderful and are treated so unfairly. He has all staff on part time right now and cuts everyone early off from work. If you ever see an add on craigslist and it states "busy Aveda salon", its so not that.
He doesn't keep up with the maintainence in this location. I've seen and worked in house to business establishments and by far this one appears the worst.
The staff he has is amazing. The structure he has set up leaves him having to fire employees often. This is why their turn over rate is so high.
There is the New Talent Salon up the street where new stylists to the company, not the industry, charge $30 for a cut and are told 3 to 6 months they will get an increase of pay and move up to the "normal" priced salons.
False. Unless someone gets fired or quits these girls won't be moved up because he has no room to put them in the shack of a salon a few blocks up and from what I remember, the 6th street location is where the staff that has been with the company the longest (over 2 years) and will stay and no one is budging.
How do you build a solid client base when all you do is fire or push someone to quit? Rotation is needed and he can't afford to have rotation, meaning opening more space for more girls to work.
Hello! That's why this business is failing and will soon falter.
If anyone does read this, I hope they take with them this is one local business to not support. I'm a grand supporter of all local and independent however I would never support someone who is absolutely rude to his staff and verbally abuses them.
If you do currently go and receive services here, I encourage you to get your stylist's or esthetician's personal info because I assure you, they won't be a permanent resident at this location. They will either be fired or quit or this place will surely close down.
Disgusted.
Pros: One day this establishment won't be in existence.
Cons: A-Z

I never been one to write reviews but I have had it with Bradz. I've been going there for several years and in the last two years it has gone downhill! They hire ANYONE who's got a license. They use to be a high quality salon but wow that sure has changed. They are so unprofessional. I went in for a hair cut and it was scheduled with someone new. She insulted the texture of my hair several times (which I just laughed off) the other girls who cut hair were standing around being annoying and laughing. Needless to say my hair looks ridiculous...I was trying to grow it out but she chopped it all off and I wish I had just walked out...I could tell she didn't really know what she was doing because she wasn't confident and aggressive...she looked like she questioned herself every time she picked my hair up to cut it. Well, I WILL not be returning there. OH and if you do find someone who cuts your hair to your liking don't get use to them, Bradz turn over is terrible...their employees take off after a few months.

I had a hair appointment with Delilah at the New Talent location about three weeks ago, and I STILL love the cut. From the minute I saw the client ahead of me come out (with fantastic hair) my worries about a "new talent" were gone.
Delilah took extra time to find out what I wanted, and listened! The shampoo I got was wonderful, too. She massaged my head while full of shampoo and I relaxed for the first time all day - I didn't even know I stressed out until she silently worked out my worries through the shampoo-massage and THEN she washed them all away.
I left there happy, and three pounds lighter! Probably not lighter, but I sure felt prettier than when I had gone in the front door.
Pros: Best Hair Cut for under $40

I went to the salon on 6th St. and saw Bridget at the recommendation of Bradz call center, who said that she was their top stylist for women. If this is the best Bradz has to offer, they are in bad shape. This was not a good cut at all. I had 10 minutes of cutting and the rest of the time was just styling and promoting Aveda products. My cut was not neat or fresh -- just some trimming on the ends that certainly doesn't cost $75, plus tip. I have been a loyal Aveda salon customer for years, but I definitely won't be returning to Bradz. A big disappointment to say the least!
Cons: very poor quality haircut

I had been a client at bradz for some while and went through a few stylists along the way. They have always given consistenly good work and the salons have a real Austin feel to them. I have always been satisfied but never blown away. Recently, however, I stumbled upon Mel. What an incredible spirit. She breathed new life into my hair and made me feel like the most important person she saw all day. I have never received so many complements. It wasn't until a friend I had referred to her told me she was no longer there, that I realized something wasn't right. I found out that I had quietly been shifted to someone else, a stylist that I had never seen nor spoken to me. I admit that I was upset at the prospect of having someone else try to recreate this masterpiece. My hair is going to need some reshaping soon, and I suppose I will trust this new person. Bradz has always done me well, but if you find a spunky young lady named Mel out there somewhere, don't let her go.

I had my haircut by Heather at 6th. I have been growing it out and I wanted it long, but didn't really know what to do with it.
She gave me an amazing haircut. I can wear it curly or straight and it's flattering both ways. I was unsure about blunt bangs and she convinced me to try them and I love them! I have been told that I have found "my haircut." When I ran into old friends, all they could say was how amazing I looked.
I have recommended Heather to all of my friends and will continue to do so.
Pros: Stylist skill/personality

I'm not exactly sure what becky67 is referring to, but I have been getting my haircut from Heather that works at 6th for over the last 3 years and I can honestly say that I never want any one else to cut my hair again. She is very professional and amazing at understanding what exactly I want done to my hair. As for Bradz each and every time I go it is a pleasant experience with no complaints from me at all.
Pros: Heather
Cons: Nothing really
