This is one of the most unusual toy stores in the Austin area and where else can you go in and browse for long periods of time looking at Toys (not the newer battery operated toys either). They have a variety of Toys like toy soldiers, clocks, pursesn novelty items and candy. The building is in on the corner and that's a sight in itself. It's truely a joy to see some of the older toys still being sold here.

The store is literally stuffed with toys. I'd always go here whenever I needed stocking stuffers or that perfect little odd gift for someone. The people are friendly and really enjoy being there and helping you. They carry small simple toys (I remember playing with when I was kid) and it brings back some sweet memories. Far cry from the large chain toy stores!

Toy Joy is the mother of all independent toy stores in Austin, At Toy Joy you'll find everything you're looking for toy wise. Here they have both ironic kitsch stuff that's great for displaying around your house as well as good old fashion stuff for the kids. They have a good selection of educational stuff for your little genius. Toy joy also has a great selection of import toys from Asia (mostly Japan) where they always seem to be about 2 or 3 years ahead of us in cool toys. However my favorite thing about toy joy is the candy and stickers. Cool candy that you've never seen before and any kind of sticker you can imagine. Don't have kids? Who cares, go to Toy Joy and you'll feel like one yourself.
