I am responding to ljrob in regards to his last post. The particular employee who was responsible for this outrageous incident has been let go. I was and still am appalled at this type of behavior in my restaurant. This is unacceptable and we will enforce stricter guidelines to make 100% sure it will NEVER happen again. Thank you ljrob for bringing this matter to my attention.
As for getting in touch with a manager at the Brick Oven on 35th street, call and state you are a customer and need to speak with a manager (due to the enormous amounts of solicitation calls employees are asked to screen out most of them). You may also contact me directly via e-mail through our website.
Thank you again for your candor this helps us recognize problems and resolve them making better experience for our customers.

I was eating at Brick Oven with two friends one night when we saw a waitress eating with her hands off of a customer?s plate?.
We had a clear view of the cash register and where the cook puts the food for the wait staff to come pick it up from where we were sitting. One of my friends saw the waitress take her first dip into a customer?s pasta with her hand and eat it. She then licked her fingers and said something to the 3 guy employees who were standing there watching her do it as if this were completely normal to do which only makes matters worse. My friend told us what she had seen so we turned to look in disbelief, but then the waitress reached in again and took some more pasta with her dirty hands that she had just licked!! She then put the plates on her tray and delivered them to a table in the back! It was disgusting and if this is happening in plain sight, what might be happening in the kitchen???
All I know is, we will never eat there again and I neither will anyone who has heard this story. So much for the convenient neighborhood restaurant.
I have been trying to contact management for a week to notify them so that they could fix the problem, but conveniently the wait staff that answers says they are never available so hopefully now they will know.
Pros: convenient neighborhood location
Cons: wait staff

I love Brick Oven. Everything on their menu is great. I would highly recommend their artichoke dip with bread as an appetizer. I also love their pizza. My only complaint about this place is that it is a bit pricy and it takes a long time to get your food. So this is not a place to go if you are starving.

I found the Brick Oven to be charming, cozy and very reasonibly priced. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful! The pizza is some of the best I've ever had and the tiramisu is to die for! I frequently dine out at the "chain" type restaurants and found this experience to be so much more inviting and intimate. I look forward to dining outside on the patio now that the weather is so nice!
Pros: food, ambience, price

The Brick Oven on W 35th has always been one of my favorites. I have yet to find a better pizza anywhere in Austin. On a visit in February, the restaurant was very busy, the service friendly and prompt, and the food superb. Two of us dined for $35, which included bread, salad, pizza, bottle of wine and desert. The owner was proud to point out the recent restaurant facility upgrades and his plans to open the patio for dining soon. It was great to see the changes maintained the character and charm of a local neighborhood Italian restaurant. A real gem and worth a trip across town for a truly enjoyable dining experience.
Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
Cons: Parking

We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the staff(one of the cooks behind the line). It took a few moments to be seated by one of the wait staff to a very quaint and romantic table. It was fairly busy but the waitor was friendly and we received good service.. The food-- GREAT-- you must try the Pizza (we chose the margarita) and a fantastic Lasagna -the bread is teriffic.
Thumbs up Brick Oven--
Pros: Food, Ambiance, Inexpensive
Cons: Parking
