Now, this is a place I don't want to tell other people about b/c then it will be too crowded for us. It is upstairs the Elephant room, which is a jazz bar. The sushi is very nicely priced and it is good. Imagine that! Go early if you want to find parking w/out paying. It isn't open on Sundays.

This is the cheapest place I know that sells really good sushi. I'm not a big raw meat fan, but they offer an array of sushi (like ones with imitation crab meat and tempura chicken) and other Japanese foods. The only catch is that the best time to go is during the happy hour. I'm pretty sure it starts at 6, and if you do go, make sure to get there early because their line is always long.
Try the Longhorn rolls!

Being a poor college student who loves sushi, i must say that kyoto meets my needs. Ever since I have gotten to Austin, i have been going here, and then they began having sushi half off during happy hour 6-6:45. this makes it amazingly cheap, but unfortunately the quality followed this decline. Although, if you dont want to spend 10 bucks a roll, this is the place for you. My favorite rolls there are their Kyoto roll and their longhorn roll. the longhorn roll goes for 3.50 during happy hour and is worth every penny.

You can't get good sushi for a cheaper price anywhere else in Austin. Happy hour happens M-Sat from 6-7. Be sure to get there early, especially on the weekends, because once those doors open at 6, it's whoever is in line first that gets seated. You must order by 6:45 in order to get Happy Hour prices. Cheap rolls, nigiri, and even Kirin by the pint. They even have traditional style seating. This small Japanese lady seats you who reminds you of the perfect grandmother. Kyoto is definitely the best place for cheap sushi.

This is the best place to hit for sushi happy hour. The quality is not as close to Musashino, but it's well worth the $2-$5 you pay. I've never seen happy hour this cheap before. You may want to get there early because there may be a long line before they even open the doors. However, this place is great if you're just having the sushi crave and don't have enough money to hit the high end sushi bars (*cough* UT students). I recommend the longhorn roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both are on the happy hour menu and both taste unique to the restaurant. I believe the Ichiban beer is also $2 as well. This place is just really really good!
