So I've always been afraid of sushi, because raw meat just doesn't sound appetizing. My bf is a HUGE fan of sushi & las night talked me into trying it one time. We went to Haiku b/c it was recommended by friends. The restaurant was completely empty on a Tues night, which is a shame, because we both thought it was fantastic! Our waitress was attentive and very knowledgable about the menu, her recomendations were spot on. We had the Haiku roll, as well as eel, crawfish, smoked salmon, and the crunchy roll. The smoked salmon roll was *fantastic*. The only one that failed to impress was the crunchy roll, which was bland (she warned us it was popular, but not one of her favs!) We avoided the pineapple saki on others' advice, but did order the peach saki, which was excellent. He ordered a Japanese beer. Total for the dinner & drinks was only $50, and we had enough food for one more meal. Our advice: go to Haiku-- you won't regret it!
Pros: Excellent food & service, great price!
Cons: None

I have always been fond of trying new things and at first raw meats and cold rice was not in favor. But I knew if I didn't try it that it just wouldn't be me. When I first walked in I thought tranquil, much like a modern day spa and the service was quick to serve although it was slightly empty on a Tuesday night. The wait for the food was not long at all and I was suprised at the portion and price in a good way. I was pleasantly suprised with the taste being skeptical from the beginning. I ordered the dragon roll and my friend the California roll after they were quite helpful in answering me and my guests questions. Our waiter checked on us once before setting the check on the table not even 15 minutes into the meal. If it would not have been empty I would understand but in this case I felt a little insulted. But I will mention spotting the waiter eating as if on break momments later. I will come here again and reccomend it to all my friends and especially first timers. The food tasted fresh and delicious, looked beautiful, was filling and affordable.

To the guy that says they're cheating...I have never reviewed any restaurant on this site before..I read them all the time but never actually review. This place is so good, I caught myself talking about it days later so I absolutely had to share my experience here for everyone to read. Oh and just so you know I'm not in on a conspiracy to over rate Haiku...don't try the pineapple sake, unless you love cantelope juice bc that exactly what it tasted like. It wasn't undrinkable but I hate cantelope and it didn't taste like pineapple.

The customer service is friendly. The food is fantastic. We just moved from the California coast and we are half Korean so we know our seafood.
Pros: Unique sushi and old stand by rolls

This place does have a modern feel and has the potential to be a good place to eat if I didn't have to wait 5 to 10 minutes every time that i go there to just be seated WHEN THE PLACE IS EMPTY! I've only had one good waitress when I've gone here, and that was the first time I've came. Every other time it seems like my presence there is just an annoyance to them. I've decided to not go there again because of this....
Pros: Delicious Rolls
Cons: Horrible Service

I'm not much of a roll person when it comes to sushi, but the selection is great and amount of food for the price isn't too bad. I plan to continue dining here!

This restaurant is cheating the Citysearch rating system in order to give their restaurant high scores. Look at the reviews. Look at the shear number per day, 98% of the reviews are from a user that has only reviewed one restaurant, this one! This restaurant is new to Austin and in a growing shopping center. There is no possible way their clients would all flock to Citysearch and ALL but two people give 5 star reviews! Bogus. I have been here. Service is not that great and food was just mediocre. I would be going back but I did some research and discovered their cheat. I will not giv them another try! Boooo!

Haiku's food was impressive and refreshing. I was particularly happy to taste freshness from every single dish they served. I can't tell you how many times I went to an expensive restaurant and was disappointed. Luckily, Haiku did not disappoint and convinced me that there is good food in Austin.
