A clean, quiet, well lit room with a cozy couch to wait in? Check.
Already there was a positive lilt to what was going to be a devastating experience for my junk. After a very brief wait I was greeted by Angie, a friendly, if not down right perky, redhead (word up, sister) that exuded a "This is not my first rodeo" vibe that set my mind at ease. What can I say? I just feel more comfortable with someone who looks supremely confident moments before they're waxin' the beave.
After assuring her that I knew the drill, she left me to prepare myself (harness my chi), and politely knocked before entering a few minutes later. What proceeded was quite simply the most efficient, professional, by-the-book Brazilian this side of the equator. As a licensed cosmetologist, I know what's up. Not only was she efficient to a Germanic degree, she also made me laugh (no easy feat, peeps) and made me feel like Billy Badass when I'm clearly the biggest sissy in Texas. I was in and out in about half an hour. That lady works the Brazilian like Flo Jo.
You can bet I'll be back for my scheduled appt, because this lady has my ticket...

WOW! I just got back from my third visit to the Waxing Studio. I've seen two different estheticians - both great!
The setting is absolutely lovely and CLEAN (which is a big a deal to me). Each waxing I've had (lower leg, upper leg, and bikini) have been great - fast and well executed. I've been to other places in Austin and other cities so I feel I have a good comparison. This place is great - fast, clean, low pain (other places have been more painful). Also I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jodi (she did my waxing), and she is so lovely!!!!
Plus I'm very uncomfortable being so exposed. Its just embarrassing for me. But Jodi made me feel completely comfortable - like we were equals - not like I was the only one in the room without pants on. =) She even honored a coupon I forgot to bring in! So sweet! Thank you Jodi! Thank you Waxing Studio!
Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, convenient, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, pleasant staff, professional, fast, family owned, nice owner!
Cons: I'm just poor so I wish it were cheaper. But I wish everything were cheaper. Oh - but they send coupons which is a bonus!

I just received flowers from King Florist for my 38th anniversary. It was simply an outstanding flower arrangment, not just the same old thing. Very creative and unique. They best arrangement I have ever received. I could not be more pleased.

I love this salon. I've lived in Austin for about 4 years. The first year I had a hard time finding a stylist I liked. Then a friend referred me to Zig Zag, and I've been going there ever since. I'm constantly referring friends.
I go to Jessica, who is a lot of fun and has given me great haircuts. I've always had long straight hair. The last time I went in, she used a new technique she learned at a Vegas hair show to take off some of the weight. and Voila - I had naturally hot beach waves. She discovered I had CURLY HAIR! It was hilarious, and I love the cute.
Also - they give you wine, which I love to have while I'm getting a haircut. This place is really relaxed. If you prefer a really quiet, tranquil snooty sort of spa hair salon, this place isn't for you. It can get loud and is so much fun. It's like hanging out with all of your best girl friends while you get your hair cut.
Pros: Great Haircut and wine!

I absolutely love Jessica. Every time I get my hair highlighted, I can expect a ton of compliments. I'm loving life as a blond and am so happy she took me there. I've also always had massive quantities of hair, a ton of it and really thick. She is the only person who could tame the wild beast. The only problem is my haircut is always way cooler, hipper and trendier than I am. But I'm trying to catch up!

So i have seen rahel a few times i have followed her from her old salon to Topaz. I absolutely love the move and change to Topaz. I still get the great same service but in a more unique, fun, and relaxed environment. I trust her with my color and haircuts because she has never let me down. Not only do i love the job she does but she has really become a friend to me. I always look forward to my appointments because i love how i always look and having a glass of wine during my visit is a great perk. Everyone should give her chance because she will truly deliver!!

I've been in Austin for 10 years and have tried my share of salons. Just recently I discovered Zig Zag Salon. They have parking right in front, they offer you a drink right when you come in, it's trendy but not pretentious, and their staff is very friendly. I've gone twice to see Laurent and she has done and excellent job with my hair. And their prices are very reasonable for a salon somewhere between $30-40.

I wanted to commorate my 50th birthday with a tattoo, but I didn't have a clue where to start. I met a girl at Kerby Lane who showed me her new tattoo, it was beautifully detailed, the lines were thin and the colors bright.I didn't know a tattoo could be such a work of art. Scott at Atomic Tattoo on Burnt Rd. was the artist. After breakfast we headed there. When I walked in Scott greated us,(my husband & me), he was very nice, told me to look around to get an idea what I wanted,I decided on a humming bird. He drew it out several times untill it was exactally what I wanted.He was very patient. He put the stencil on me, had me look at it to be sure I liked the placement and explained how it was going to feel.We also talked about the colors he would use.It came out beautiful, I am so pleased with it, I show every body I know.Two days ago I went back to Scott and got a flower to go with the bird, it's gorgeous,I love it.I waited a long time to get a tattoo and I am glad I found such a profesional to do it.

I have spent 6 years in Austin getting $65 haircuts at Maximum FX (formerly on the drag, now in SOCO). My hair stylist there never left me disappointed, but she left my wallet emtpy. One day, I decided to try Stacy, since she was a friend of a friend. I went in with my fingers crossed, hoping and praying the entire time that I was not going to regret this decision for the next 5 weeks. Bird's was pretty new at the time and I was absolutely certain that no one could even come close to my top dollar salon. I was so wrong. I have not been back to the other salon since. I won't go to anyone but Stacy and every time I leave her chair and walk out the door, I feel ready to take on the world. I always get complimented on my hair. Stacy is a genius, a real artist, and should get paid more for what she does.
