Good food but building and ambience not worth $$$ 2/19/2012

Party of 4 on Saturday night. We shared an appetizer, three of us had an entree and one had 2 very small salads ($10 each). Total of 5 glasses of house wine. The bread was great, the food was good and the service was fine. Honestly, I just hate paying $210 plus tip for dinner in a room where the false ceiling panels move up and down when the central air comes on. If they want to charge those prices, they should consider a more upscale place. more

Top Italian Food 8/2/2011

It's a little gem without all the pretentiousness of some other claimed top Italian restaurants. The pace is calm and professional, loud adults and misbehaving children are thankfully absent. The food is competently prepared and well presented. The wine list is fairly comprehensive and well priced when there are specials. I could go on, but I would like to preserve its secret nature and keep the rowdies out. I am sure you understand. more

Not Great 9/6/2009

I was expecting to be blown away by the meal. I was NOT. The bread before the meal was very tasty and probably the best aspect of meal. I had the Gnocci, ...It was ...well I didn't even eat it. My friend stated her lamb chop was ""marginal' at best. Service was good, desserts were tasty also. Atmosphere: there was no atmosphere. For the price tag you would expect the food to be good. We did not find that to be the case. Pros: The company we were with, Dessert Cons: Food and Price more

Great Italian find! 8/4/2009

I would never have guessed an amazing Italian restaurant lay hidden in the slighty sketchy strip mall. Once inside, you forget the surroundings however. While not luxurious by any means, the ambience is nice, even quaint. The servers are extremely friendly and well versed with the menu. Service is never rushed and I guess can be perceived as a bit slow. We LOVED the delicious bread they started out with and asked for 2 extra baskets :). The pastas we had were wonderful and the chocolate mousse, cannoli and tiramisu we all shared for dessert were divine. I'm already dreaming about our next visit! Pros: Delicious food, friendly service Cons: Need to get over the location in a dingy strip mall :) more

Best Italian in Austin! 2/22/2009

Best Italian in Austin! We have been here many times and are never disappointed. The food is always excellent, the music makes for a very romantic dinner and the service is just as good. We have tried several different items on the menu and have always been very happy with our selections. Who cares that this is in a strip mall? Once you are inside, you don?t even think about the outside. Great romantic Italian dinner! Pros: Excellent music, food, service more

Little Italy in North Austin 11/8/2008

A quaint Italian restaurant situated conveniently for us north Austin dwellers. Andiamo delivers a true escape into the flavors of Italy. They made room for us on a busy Saturday night and the ambiance and food were a wonderful escape from the weekly chaos. more

Strip center restaurant with ugley decor 8/2/2008

We were disappointed with the service, seating (we were seated in direct line of site to the kitchen door, even though there were only two tables in the entire restuarant.) and mediocre food. We would rather not go back, if our friends don't make us go back! Please, no! Pros: I didn't get sick. Cons: Poor value for the dining experience. more

Flawed service 4/19/2008

Good food - flawed service. Pros: good food Cons: poor service more

Austin's Best Kept Elegant Dining Secret 2/15/2008

This has got to be Austin's best kept secret restaurant. While it looks like nothing from the outside, inside it is the perfectly elegant small formal dining restaurant. We went on Valentine's Night and the dining area was never more than 3/4 full, the service was attentive and never rushed. Pros: Food, service, lack of crowd, atmosphere Cons: Looks like nothing from the outside more

VERY SLOW & TASTELESS 11/29/2007

I went to Andiamo this past weekend the food tasteless and it took more than an hour to get our food. I'm a regular at Andiamo but I really the place is going down. I don't think Andiamo is a 4 star restaurant? maybe one! Please get a better service & a good chef. Pros: good parking Cons: very very very slow more

Excellent Italian Food 10/28/2007

My boyfriend and I went to Andiamo a few months ago and had an excellent experience. The service was superb as our server was very attentive. Everything from the appetizer to dessert was very good. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this place is top notch. Pros: Service, Parking, Food more

A ""Keeper"" if you like Italian! 10/9/2007

I liked the quiet environment of Andiamo's -very relaxing. We arrived early but by the time dinner was served it was filling up and we were still able to enjoy conversation at the table, unlike many other restaurants where the noise is a disruption. On this evening there was live music and totally Italian appropriate as well as soothing. Our waiter answered all our questions about the menu and was prompt with service. I'm originally from NY and would find Andiamo's comparable to my favorites in NY. Desserts are my weakness, we all ordered differently and then sampled -- hard choices as they were all great! more

Andiamo's -- Great 10/8/2007

Tour of Italy Cuisine --- Brilliant Concept -- Pros: Comfortable family atmosphere with great cuisine at a very resonable price Cons: A few our our guest's were surprised at the quality level fo a strip mall. more

Molto Bene! 8/30/2007

Having lived in Italy and then in NYC for the last few years I've gotten used to (and even picky!) about Italian food. Andiamo is the first restaurant in Austin (we've lived here a year) that has ""wowed"" me with its authenticity, thoughtful menu, and classic but casual ambiance. This little gem is tucked away in the unlikely confines of a strip mall....but don't let the location fool you! The minute you walk in, you are transported to an intimate Italian assemblage. Our waiter was prompt and articulate in the Italian language. There was a man in the back center of the restaurant playing a mandolin (though the songs were a bit ""cheesy"", stereotypical Italian music). We never ran short of bread or small plates of olive oil complete with heaping mounds of Parmesan cheese. The optional fixed menu pleasantly reminded me of something you would see in Italy. The food was amazing. We all ordered something different....veal & ravioli, linguine alle vongole, etc......and I can honestly admit that every dish was wonderful and rich with flavor. From beginning to end the flavors of our experience blended perfectly. Our meal was topped off with a complimentary glass of either Amaretto or Sambuca. Perfect! We will definitely be frequent patrons!! Pros: Authentic Italian food Cons: Location (small strip mall) more

Fine Italian Fare 5/21/2007

I usually go to Andiamo for lunch when I want to take clients to a restaurant that serves excellent food, is quiet enough for a business conversation, and where the service is prompt and efficient. I recently went there for dinner with my husband and some friends and family members. I hadn?t been there in the evening for a while. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the special of the day was Seafood Risotto. Risotto is a favorite of mine, a dish I always order when I?m in Italy and which is hard to find in restaurants in Austin. more
