Amys ~ What to say about the best Ice Cream EVER? This great location is the nearest to my house, nestled in the very trendy SoCo area, it looks more like a pop culture store than an ice cremery, but who cares? I LOVE...LOVE...L-O-V-E their Mexican Vanilla with Fresh Crushed Strawberries. If you have not tried this tastebud delight, you just don't know how to keep Austin wierd! FANTASTIC.

Not sure why everyone is raving about it. We are new to Austin and have been told to try Amy's Ice Cream. We had visitors from out of town and took them there... Out of 5 people I was the only one that finished the small cup we all got (I will eat about anything), everyone else pitched theirs. Even for me, it was mediocre and not worth going back to even if it was free. We all got different flavors, so I can't even say they got a flavor wrong that day. Any store ice cream is better and it doesn't even compare to Cold Stone creamery.

Amy's is an Austin classic. Quite simply, their ice cream can't be matched by anyone else in town. Don't get me wrong, I love my Blue Bell. But, Amy's has that extra something to theirs. If you're on a date, need a pick-me up or simply driving around with nothing to do, Amy's is the place to go. They have a really good variety but their Mexican Vanilla is their bread-and-butter. Match it with any of their mix-ins and you've got yourself a real gem. If you're going to the one by Central Market, just watch out for the after-movie crowd. Every two hours or so, there will be a line out the door trying to get their ice cream scoops, so if possible go during their down times.

Amy's is a great place to take any ice cream lover to. They offer traditional flavors such as vanilla and chocolate to homegrown flavors like their famous Mexican vanilla. You get to choose your flavor and take it straight or have them crunch in just about any candy imaginable. If you aren't in the mood for regular ice cream they offer plenty of other treats from smoothies to shakes. This is hands down the best ice cream in Austin!
