Not only is the motel a one of a kind your room will be a one of a kind as well. It is a really unique place to stay and I was very pleased with the service we received. Our rooms were large and overlooked the pool. I loved that their website lets you browse all the rooms and pick the one that fits your personality. The only down side is that you can only book three months in advance and for an uber planner like me that made for some nailing biting moments but everything worked out. The staff was very helpful and more than willing to make dining suggestions. If you don't want a cookie cutter stay this place is perfect and the location can't be beat.

The Austin Motel is a funky, locally owned motel on South Congress. This Motel is one of those uniquely Austin places where the price is good and each room is furnished in a different cool manner. They have a good pool area and is such a great place to stay for out of town visitors.

Neat little hotel in SoCo. Close to great places to eat and shop. Every room is different and you can view them all on the website before making a choice. Really cool. The staff is very friendly. If you go in the summer they have a good pool area - complete with a kidney shaped pool and lounge chairs. This is such a fun place. I plan on going back soon. While you are there, make sure to stop in for a bite to eat down the road at Guero's - it is withing walking distance.

When friends come into town and need a place to stay I wouldn't think of recommending anywhere besides the Austin Motel, The funky antique neon sign that hangs out onto Congress street lets you know that you're in for something different. The price is good (less than $100 per night) and each room has been furnished and decorated uniquely. There are small single bed rooms all the way up to multi-room suites. The best part however is the pool. A good size kidney shaped pool with beautiful flowers blooming all around makes you feel like you're in an old movie.
