The Hotel San Jose is not cheap but it's worth it if you're on a luxury vacation or spending a night away from the house. The building is truly unique looking with a great courtyard layout and the location is fantastic, right on South Congress across the street of the legendary COntinental Club. Connected to the hotel is Joe's coffee stand that can fill you up in the morning with fresh coffee and breakfast. If you're going to stay here you might as well go all out and get a sweet. They include all the regular amenities in beautifully designed and decorated rooms.

kcf78749's lack of insight and her date's poor manners, coupled with only a patio visit, are no reason to give anything (not to mention such a marvelous place) 3 stars. Obviously, someone can read her review and see she is an airhead, but it affects the star rating outside the review. What a dummy! It's a four-star (perhaps 4.5 star) place. So, I'll balance out her childish stupidity with 5 of my own.
Pros: Service, attractiveness
Cons: Go to Barton Spring instead of the pool

They never let us down. We love staying here as well as just going for some drinks. We loved it so much that it's where my wife and I got married. We stayed there for a week along with our wedding party and everyone had nothing but great things to say about it. It's a great weekend getaway without leaving town.

The menu changes daily, but the specials are savory. The iced tea is flavored with peach...or was it apricot? One of those two, but a treat nonetheless. The BLT sandwhich is to die for, as well as the elborate desserts.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Can't dine in large group

I live in Austin and instead of traveling out of town for a getaway weekend, I took my wife to KimberModern in downtown Austin. What a great decision - it was the best of all worlds: modern, comfortable, cozy, quite, beautiful, incredible location, etc, etc, etc!!!!! The bathroom in the suite is simply stunning!
A special thanks to Kimber for having the vision for this property, the great taste to appoint the property with the best of the best in modern appointments, and for making a romantic getaway weekend here in Austin the best it could have possibly been anywhere.
Sincerely,
Rob Carnochan
Pros: everything
Cons: none

This page seems to be for the hotel which is beautiful (I love historic buildings) but I only ever walk through it to get to the bar which is really the crown jewel. The inside is very comfortable but the real attraction for me is the terrace. There are tons of tables and an amazing view of the capital building about 7 blocks away. It is like drinking in a postcard. And the drinks are good too. My server Liz was very attentive and funny too. I never had to wait too long for a refill and it always came with a smile. I had a great time and may have found my new summer home away from home.

My new husband and I chose Lost Parrot Cabins as our honeymoon destination.... were we ever blown away by the sights and sounds. The colors, the art work, the owners... all awesome.... we actually never wanted to leave. We highly recommend that anyone reading the reviews of the cabins give this oasis from the real world, a try. If I had to choose one word to describe the Lost Parrot Cabins I would say nirvana. My husband and I plan to return every chance we get for the rest of our lives.

Pros: Cat and Cliff (the inkeepers)
Cons: none

More
My husband and I recently went here for the first time. When we drove up, the first thing I noticed was the wrap around porch and the little white lights all over the trees in the spacious yard. A gazebo, beautiful benches and plants, the place was an oasis. We were running late to check in, but Phoebe (the owner) had cookies out and showed us around, encouraged us to help outselves to snacks in the kitchen. The place was spotless, but not sterile like some hotels can be. Breakfast includes healthy options as well as made to order home cooked meals. The atmosphere is casual and convivial. My husband and I were celebrating a special vent, and Phoebe went out of her way to include several 'extras' as a surprise! We are from Austin but wanted a spot close to home. We felt like we were miles away at this B & B. Out of towners (one guest from London) can get tips on places to go from the many tourist pamphlets available. Better yet, just ask Phoebe herself. The free wireless access and local calls are great, as the tv/video library (all free). However, you might find you won't need it. Just sitting on the porch at night with a book and listening to the crickets is relaxing. Somehow, the simple becomes exceptional at Carrington's. We plan on going back imminently and we were very sad to leave!
Ps- Don't forget to sign the 'guestbook' journal in your room when you leave. Even if you don't, it is fun to read the comments and stories of the people who stayed there before you.
Pros: Cozy extras, cleanliness and friendly hostess
Cons: NONE
