Great service staff. We had dinner in one of the new private dining rooms (table of ten, highly suggest securing the "small PDR" for a group this size, our waiter Doug was fantastic. Both the General Manager Jason and the Chef Ryan visited our table. We opted for the sushi platter as a starter and then I chose the roasted duck breat as my entree. While the food was exceptional, I found the wine list diverse with many great wines by the glass. My wife and I chose an Albarino at the staff's suggestion and it was absolutely delightful. (without breaking the bank). Highly recommend and we'll be back!
Pros: Great food with approachable wine list

We went in with a group of 12 total for a nice dinner. We were seated in the semi private dining room and taken care of very well. Our servers were polite, attentive, & truly concerned about our comfort. Our group sampled everything from the calamari, to sushi, to the Trio-of steak, lobster & a crab cake! It was AMAZING. My hawaiin mahi mahi was fresh and perfectly prepared. Everything was exactly as I would expect from a fine dining establishment. I look forward to my next meal at Finn & Porter. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful evening.
Pros: beautiful semi-private dining room, amazing staff!

Had a great dinner at Finn & Porter the other night. We had a party of 8 and they were able to put us in a private dining area which was really nice. The waitstaff was very accomodating and the service was top notch. They had some sushi happy hour specials so the prices weren't bad at all. We got some calamari - big portion - for $5. This is a great restaurant for a group of people and the atmosphere is very nice. You forget that it's inside the Hilton.

Wow!! What a mistake! My husband and I came here based on the decent reviews and couldn't have been more dissapointed. The waitstaff was unknowledgable, sloppy, and slow. The waiter knew nothing about wine and brought our drinks out 15 minutes after our dinner. My husband's dish was cold and had old mussells in it and mine had to be sent back because it was so off!! All in all a really bad experience for a fine dining establishment. There are so many other fantastic places in Austin. Don't waste your time or the hefty valet parking fee!!! :o(
Pros: none
Cons: cheesy atmosphere, sloppy waiters, bad food

I took my wife and daughter there for my daughter's birthday. We were seated around six, and the light shining through the windows was so bright that it blinded us. We had to move to another table. The sushi rolls were good, but the steak was overcooked and tough. Our waiter was a nice enough guy, but he was sloppily dressed and slow. The noise from the bar upstairs was very loud, too. Not worth 200$. Next time, I'll go to ALC.
Pros: Sushi rolls
Cons: steak overcooked

We had a wonderful dinner here on a Monday night. We were actually staying at the hotel and I went on line to find a recommendation for a good steak in Austin..I was surprised to find Finn and Porter and all the wonderful reviews given here. It was a wonderful experience. Recently renovated and beautiful it has wonderful ambiance. Jason the manager made sure we had the most wonderful dining experience. Our server was equally greatl and the food was out of this world. My daughter and husband had the bone-in rib eye and said it was fabulous. I had the Finn and Porter trio and every bite was delicious. The crab cake was the best I have ever had! This is a wonderful place for a group or a romantic dinner. You will not be treated better anywhere else!
Pros: Food and service
Cons: none

My boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn't want to walk that far (it's really not that far but there's a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn't expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town.
Pros: comfort, great staff, pool
Cons: wakling distance from downtown

For my Dad's retirement party dinner we wanted a restaurant that would provide not only a wonderful ambience, but outstanding food and service as well. Finn & Porters was the perfect choice! The manager (John) was helpful, knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. The food was fantastic. The crab cakes, sushi, and oysters were perfect. My halibut had an unepxected zing and flavor. Our steaks, and stuffed chicken were amazing. The wine options were outstanding. Every detail was taken into consideration by the staff and kitchen - and every course was worth the wait. The restaurant can be a little noisy thanks to the acoustics, but its well worth it. The menu is reasonably priced, the food and wine pairings are wonderful, and the staff is attentive and helpful. This is definitely a place worth putting on your favorites or must visit list!
Pros: Food, Wine, Ambience, Service
Cons: Parking, Construction on nearby streets
