My daughter attended classes for Ballet Austin at their Chapparel Ice location off I35 in Round Rock for 2 years where she had the same teacher for those 2 years. The Academy does things a little bit different than some of the dance studios. First, for her age group they were required to wear pink head to toe. Once she got to the older group it would be black head to toe. Next, they had parent viewing days and not big recitals at the end of the semester or year. They did have one big one after she had done it for 2 years. For that recital they did not require parents to purchase expensive costumes that the girls would no longer be able to wear after the recital and that cost a fortune. Overall this was a good experience for her, the price was more expensive than other studios however. Also, it prepared her well for her Tae Kwon Do training.

I recently took beginning swing dance here and had a great time! You learn quite a bit in the four weeks of classes. You don't need a partner as they switch your dance partner after every couple of minutes. It's a great place to learn how to dance with several different people -- perfect for singles! I've been told it's often skewed toward the male end of the spectrum, but in my class, men were the hot commodities.

I took a 6 week break dancing course at The DZ (Dance Zone) last summer and I had a great time doing. Our instructor was a very famous local bboy and he also brought in many people to help instruct us on how to dance. The workouts were hard, 2 hours. Sometimes they would be late, and once when it rained they showed up over half an hour late. The DZ isn't too organized though. I felt they were a little too laid back with regard to payment and being on time to instruct. I felt everyday was just made up on the fly as well. Other than that, I did have fun overall. I would check them out for other dancing as well. They have a pretty good location near the UT campus
