Despite it's location on a major highway, La Palapa remains one of the best kept secrets in town. I'm always amazed at how many people do not know about it. La Palapa has delicous Mexican food at terribly low prices. Their food is soooo good that I always feel like I should be paying more.
I'm not easily impressed by Mexican restaurants, but their chiles rellenos are to die for. This is the only mexican restaurant where I will even consider ordering chiles rellenos, as they resemble my mother's the most. Also, their tortilla soup makes for an easy and cheap lunch. I love their tortilla soup and could eat it every day of the week. I highly recommend this restaurant to everybody. With great food, service and prices, you can't go wrong at La Palapa.

This is a great wedding spot (and a pricey one) overlooking Lake Travis. The grounds, gazebo, and facilites are very pretty and elegant. My only complaint is the drive to get here - having people drink and have fun at your wedding and then deal with the winding, long drive back into Austin seems like a bad idea. But that's probably just me.....

Living in the arboretum area one can find many a place to dine; however, this place ranks in my top 3 places to dine at. Their pizza is amazing. Sure, you can't get a pie cheap (priced from $15-$22) but if you split on then that's a decent price for a date! On the weekends they have $1 wine glasses as well of select red and white. This place feels like you are dinning in Italy drinking vino and having a pizza cooked in a wood burning oven. The other items at the market are pricey, but look for a coupon in the Entertainment book and you will be pleasantly rewarded!

Pluckers is AWESOME for chicken wings! Very meaty and cooked to your desired crispiness. I've tried almost all of their sauces, but must profess a special fondness for spicy bbq. Side dishes and salads are yummy too. Can't speak for all locations, but their North Austin wait staff is excellent -- and we're there several times a month. We enjoy their food, drinks, Wednesday Live Trivia contests -- also, with MANY screens all around the place, a great spot to watch your fav sporting event.

Pappasito's catering is always a hit for meeting. Their fajitas are a surefire way to please everyone. They are always ready and willing to accomodate my special requests and have done double duty to help our company out on short notice for meetings. Pappasito's is one of my favorite places to go for catering as I know that they never tell me no, and they always strive to please. They are a little bit on the pricey side, but it's well worth the great service and the delicious food.

Whoever came up with this idea of having a traveling gymnastics class on a bus is brilliant! Who would of thought? I have to say that it did seem a bit strange to me at first when I originally heard about it, but after seeing it in action it was awesome! My daughter attended classes when she was enrolled at a daycare and she really seemed to enjoy it and talked about it at home all the time. She even wanted to have the Funbus for her birthday party. I have heard that they do parties but I am not sure the pricing and how it all works. Pricing seemed reasonable compared to other gymnastics classes we looked into that would of been on weekends rather than during the school day. The staff that I had encountered were very friendly as well.

Kobe Steakhouse is a great place to go for that special night out. Their food is very expensive, but by far one of the best steaks I have ever had. The service was phenomenal and the steak was perfectly tender, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Kobe Steakhouse is a perfect once in a while treat for you and that special someone.

When I first got to Austin, it seemed that everyone was recommending Baby Acapulco as the place for Mexican food. I went there a few times and finally gave up - what was the big deal? Their parking is basically non-existent and you can't ever hear anything since the place is so loud. The food is okay but after having such a hard time to find parking and paying $10 for enchiladas, you can think of a few places to find a better and pleasant experience.
There's an abundance of good Mexican food places in Austin. This is definitely the trendy place and their food is OK. In fact, if the rest of the factors weren't so bad, I bet the food would taste better. But, they're not. It's just an average place for me.

I used Dagar's as the caterer at my wedding. I hardly noticed they were there unless I wanted to. They brought me water as I arrived at the reception as I was a little dizzy. The food was absolutely delicious and it was setup so beautifully. My grandmother specifically pointed out to me how kind the waiters were to her.
Kathryn was great to work with during the planning stages. One month before the wedding I had to tighten my budget and she was there helping me figure out what to cut. She did not try to upsell me as so many other people would. This is a family owned business and you can truly tell. I would recommend them to anyone.
