I moved to Austin around 2 years ago and needed a new hair stylist immediately, so a fellow co-worker of mine recommended her stylist Victoria. I've been seeing Victoria now for 2 years and I am always impressed. She is a very talented stylist and such a sweet girl, she always listens to what I want and also gives her opinion on what she thinks would work best for my hair. Kerry at Skye Salon is an angel on earth. At 51 y/o, I have had long, thick, curly hair my whole life. People have always complemented me on my beautiful hair. That all changed in the past 3-4 weeks when my hair started falling out in huge handfuls everyday in the shower. I learned that I had been incorrectly treated for thyroid disease, and that the abrupt changes in thyroid hormone were the cause of the hair loss?70% so far, and counting. It will be 6 months to a year before I can hope to have the thyroid disease, and the hair loss, in check. Even then, I will never have hair like I've had my whole life up until this point. Thus, I had no choice but to seek my first trip to a salon in over 20 years, as what was left of my so-recently thick beautiful hair was pathetic to say the least. I had purchased a wig the day before, anticipating the likelihood that soon I would not have enough hair to be seen in public without one. I picked Kerry for my appointment based on the other reviews in Citisearch where other customers said what a ?good listener? she was and how she took her time to craft the best style for the customer?s needs and wishes. What I experienced with Kerry far exceeded those statements. Traumatized by the sudden change in my body image with the loss of my best feature(my hair)?along with the real possibility of being completely or nearly bald before Christmas?--Kerry patiently asked me questions, and worked slowly and methodically to see what would work for me. My hair was not very cooperative with the blow dryer as we slowly cut it shorter. She must have washed my hair at least 3 times, and at one point I actually left for a couple of hours and came back?this was in order to let my curly hair dry naturally to see how the curls would look before cutting anymore hair. Kerry worked on my hair as if I were a family member. She gave me her opinion and then listened to my thoughts and wishes every step of the way. In the end she created a style using my curly hair?s ability to plump up and cover the growing patches of scalp that would have been visible with any other style. Though the transformation to a whole new look was a ?have to? versus a ?want to? Kerry?s genuine warmth, caring, and competence made it as close to a stress-free experience as possible. Charlie was also gracious and concerned?occasionally hovering to check on our progress and see how I was holding up. I have never experienced this level of personal service and caring?all at no extra charge for the additional time required. I know that no matter what the future holds, I will be going back to Skye Salon, and to Kerry, to help me make the most of whatever hair I?ve got. Pros: Best Salon Service and Personal Care I have ever experienced Cons: Zero/None

I had an incredible experience at Skye Salon in Austin. Kerry did an exceptional job toning down bad coloring jobs I had done to my hair - without any judgement! She is kind, courteous, and listens to your needs while not requiring you to talk non-stop about mundane things unless you want to. That's kind of hard to come by in a stylist! Not only that, she was great about taking her time and making sure I was happy with the end result - which was fabulous! I can't wait to go back to her again. All of the staff were nice and welcoming, especially Charlie. You walk away feeling like part of something and it's so nice to know I have a place to go to consistently now since I've been searching for one I liked for over two years! Can't recommend enough. Pros: Great location, experienced and friendly staff Cons: None

Let me start with my phone call for a new client appointment, Charlie was thoughtful and accommodating on the phone. Fitz is new at the salon and the consummate professional, knew the right questions to ask and asked that I trust his judgment, which proved flawless. I have been in Austin quite a while and have tried all price points of hair salons, both uptown and downtown. This is the first haircut that matches what I actually hoped to get! I have wavy hair and usually walk out of salons with straight cuts that I struggle to grow out. I waited to style it myself before writing the review to be sure of the results and it is truly one of the best cuts I have had since living here. Jennifer the esthetician was great as well. Hurray! I came to see Kerry after receiving a HORRIBLE haircut and highlights. A very thick shoulder length shelf layer had been cut into my long hair and the highlights were orange, streaky and in no discernible pattern. Kerry listened to my concerns and then carefully went through layer by layer adding lowlights and toning the orange highlights. She was very much an artist in how she cut my hair. Slowly trying to blend the shelf layer into the rest of my hair while keeping as much length as Pros: Friendly, listened to what I wanted, great results. Cons: none

She does amazing hair. I have been looking for a good hairstylist and i think i found the one! I found Skye Salon on Citysearch and decided to try it because of all the rave reviews. I am originally from Southern California and was so pleased to have met Laura, who is also from Los Angeles. She has tons of experience and an impressive portfolio. But of course the proof is in my new do!!! I love her and my cut is by far the greatest I've ever had! I will always come back for more and don't forget to shop the boutique they have such cute stuff great for unique Christmas gifts! Pros: laura Cons: none
